To the right! Just go to the right! The other way is clearly going back towards the mansion; the woods only seem to thicken. You shot towards the right, carefully trying to avoid stepping the wrong way and ending back at the bottom of the cliff.
You heard the wolves still chasing you and you pushed your body to go even faster than before. You saw that the trees started to get less and less whilst the dry land increased. You carefully avoided the dead branches lying on the ground, searching for anything that could be of use.
You needed to hide or to get somewhere safe because at this rate you would surely collapse and die soon. You searched around for any kind of help. A tree, a rock, anything which will get you out of reach for those wolves. You took a quick glance over your shoulders.
You saw the wolves were still chasing you, a little further behind, but still after you. Outrunning them would be impossible. Your body was too weak, you wouldn't make it. Besides they're hungry wolves, they will get to you eventually unless you can get them away from you.
You carefully avoided the rocks lying in the loose sand. The trees which were here all looked a little too fragile, though you didn't know for sure thanks to the darkness. You even wondered how all those trees could've grown, since there was no sun light, only moonlight.
The whole area was surrounded by complete darkness, yet plants still seemed to grow.
You felt your feet getting heavier and heavier and you were now in desperate need of some shelter. You weren't going to last any longer. Up further ahead, you saw a big rock coming in sight. You decided that it was your only option, that the thing was your only way to keep your life.
You used all of your power to take one last sprint towards the rock, not even slowing down. You knew that with this speed you could free run onto it, and then use your hand and arm to pull yourself up further. You reached your good hand out for the rock, wanting to grab anything in order to get up.
You had no idea if this rock was even climbable, if this rock had edges for you to grab on... But it was your only choice. You ran as hard as you could, nearing the rock without decreasing any speed. Once you were close you used your legs to take off a little.
Using the speed in order to free run on the smooth side of the rock. You got quite far before your hand had grabbed a small, out pointing rock. You immediately wrapped the elbow of your bad arm around it, pulling yourself up this way.
Your feet could find small ledges to climb up higher and whilst ignoring the harsh abrades of the rocks against your skin, you came high enough to be out of reach. You looked over our shoulder to see the wolves nearing, you climbing up a little higher and securing yourself safely.
The wolves jumped against the rock, yet they had no support to get higher. A loud sigh of relief escaped your mouth once you had seen this. Thank the lord you were safe right now. You only stared at the wolves, which were barking and howling against the stone.
Your breathing was heavy, your throat extremely dry and you were in desperate need of some water. Not to mention betadine and bandages. You felt your heart pounding in your head, the blood still speeding through your veins as you tried to calm yourself down.
You were safe right now. You only needed to wait. Wait for those wolves to give up and go away. They would surely leave, right? Or at least you hoped so...
Resting your head against the rock behind you, you stared. Stared at the full moon, stared at the wolves. You thought you could be free but look at you now? You are trapped in a position even worse than you were before just because you wanted to escape.
No, it was because you needed to escape. You had only one goal, yet you fail to fulfill it again. You were going to die from either starvation or from blood loss. You wished those wolves would've just ripped you apart when they got the chance.
Here goes the wait for nothing you suppose...
~~
Your eyes shot open, your body immediately reacting by sitting up straight. You searched around wildly; grabbing the rock before you finally realized where you were. Taking in your surrounding you slowly started to relax again. Of course, you had fallen asleep.
You were still sitting on the rock, completely safe from those wolves...
Oh yeah, those wolves. You looked down, but you didn't really see them anymore. You slowly and steadily peeked over the edge of the rock, wondering if they were sleeping or hiding. But no wolf was seen. You decided to look around a little bit more, slowly getting on your feet to get a better picture.
You saw nothing but dry land, a few trees and utter darkness. They probably already gave up. You let out a loud sigh of relief, peeking around one more time before you prepared yourself to go back. You had no idea where you were, but you knew that you had to get back to the forest.
It was the first step.
You slowly climbed off of the rock, careful not to put any more pressure onto any wounded limb you had. Once you got down onto your feet you started walking, still glaring around in order to watch your surroundings. After you took a few steps, you heard something.
You immediately turned around, staring at where the sound came from. You heard a low, grumbling sound and you didn't need to think twice of what it was. When you saw even the slightest bit of hair you bolted off, starting to run towards the canyon again.
Your footsteps were immediately followed by a loud growl before you knew that they were chasing you. Those fucking wolves which you were sure they left were fucking chasing you again! What is this for kind of shit? You ran as fast as you could, ignoring the complaints your limbs gave you.
How in the world were you able to escape this madness?
You gave a quick look over your shoulder, only to see the wolves closing in on you. Damn it! You couldn't outrun them anymore and there weren't enough good trees near to get into. The only option was to keep running, and fast!
Your eyes widened when you saw more and more trees nearing, getting into the thick forest quickly. This had to be your one and only chance, you had to get into a tree! You quickly scanned the area, looking for a tree with low hanging, thick branches.
However because you were occupied with looking you didn't see what was in front of you. The road was ending. You were in complete shock once you saw what was only a few meters away from you and you immediately tried to stop yourself from running.
over your own feet before the ground underneath you completely stopped. You fell forward, a loud scream escaping your throat as you pummeled down into the dark abyss.
You tried to get a hold of something but it was too late, you were already falling down. The pressure on your lungs got too great, as your screaming continued. You felt weightless, almost as if you were floating... But the ground was indeed nearing.
You couldn't breathe anymore and the incredibly painful wind rushed past your ears, your nose and your mouth... You passed out almost immediately, your mind going completely black before your broken and battered body crashed onto the ground.
You did not survive the fall.
