"Have you seen... Any of the other girls?" You hoped she had seen more than only you, but you had a hunch not. You had no idea if she was aware of the fact that two for your close friends had died... If not you weren't planning on informing her.

You didn't want to cause more damage.

"No... You were the only one... I... I..." She was trying to say something yet it somehow couldn't get past her lips, as if it was difficult to speak. You tilted your head a little, glaring at her with anticipation of what she was about to say. What was so difficult it couldn't be said?

What was she trying to tell you? Something important?

"I...I..." She kept stuttering, averting her gaze to the side. She never stuttered before, yet now it seemed as if she was dealing with this her whole life. It still didn't come out. You began to notice that the grip on your hand tightened a little and Rayne had stopped fixing the small splint on your hand. Her eyes seemed to change too, as her expression became full of guilt and sadness.

"What's wrong?" You breathlessly asked the girl, eyes still fixed onto hers, which were now casted onto the ground. You felt a pang in your heart for not being able to help her, for being so extremely useless yet again. You couldn't do anything other than to wait.

"I... I helped you. I treated your wounds... You were in such a bad shape, I was almost certain I'd lost you. Sometimes you would stop breathing for a few seconds. I would wait, completely silent and praying to the lord above that you would come back to me. I was so scared, (Y/N). I didn't know what to do."

You were taken aback by the amount of information she gave you, by the amount of talking she did. It was as if she had regained her composure, as if her old self was constantly trying to crawl back up into her mind. With much difficulty that is.

It was as if she was taken over by something. Her real self was terribly suppressed and even though she had strength you would be jealous at... It wasn't enough to take total control. Why was saying such a simple sentence hard for her?

And then it had hit you, the things she had said. It wasn't the speaking which was difficult for her... It was what she had said. She treated you; she made sure you had stayed alive... She was the unknown voice you had heard while you were in limbo. Before you got attacked by the black smoke.

"Who brought me to you?" You knew it had to be Jeff, but you wanted to know for sure. You wanted to be certain he was the one, so that you could ask him about it. So that you could get answers from the guy with backup information.

"The same guy... Who attacked us in the beginning..." She whispered the last part, probably remembering everything that had happened that night. Everything that had happened after that night. Everything that had happened right now.

So it was Jeff...

He had brought you here... To be treated? He tortures, pains, abuses you and then, when you get attacked, saves you and even has someone treating to your wounds?

You were shaken from your thoughts when Rayne spoke again, this time little louder than before:

"The splint is done." Your eyes traveled towards your broken hand, examining the small, wooden splint only to see it being completely restored as it was. You had so many unanswered questions, so many things to ask her... But somehow you forgot. You didn't know where to start, you didn't know what had priority.
