Dear Violet-Louise,
Gee, I'm awfully sorry for not writing back and worrying you. I'm fine, just really tired out. Honestly, the sergeant is a slave driver. There is a government agent here that makes me sorta happy though, her name is Peggy Carter. She reminds me so much of you, because you both have the same hair (only yours is softer and longer) and you both like to wear red lipstick. I miss you something terrible, in fact, I have an itch to hear one of your bad puns right about now. They feed us well, and the barracks are warm and dry at night, if nothing else. The uniforms are a bit uncomfortable, but that's alright.
My asthma has only acted up a few times, but it was really nothing serious. And no, Buck doesn't know I finally got accepted, thank you for not telling him yet. I will write him soon, I just don't quite know when or what I'll say to him. I hope Bucky is alright, the 107th is supposed to be in Austria right now, I think. Anyways, I'm sorry for not writing. I'll write again soon to make up for it, I promise.
Sending hugs,
Steve
