Dear Steve,
Oh goodness, I'm so glad you're doing alright. I understand how hard it must be, with all of that crazy military stuff they're making you do. I'm glad the conditions are fine, I would hate for you to be cold and hungry.
I suppose I should fill you in on what is happening back in Brooklyn. Mrs. Datillo,, you know, from the bakery, finally had her baby. He's a cute little thing, with quite the shock of brown hair. She named him Giovanni Luca, which I think is a fine name. He's so little, oh, you should see him, Steve. He's the sweetest baby you've ever seen.
I can't wait for you to come home, I miss you a lot. I have to go to work now (That's right, I forgot to tell you I got a job working at the florist's for that sweet old lady, Lucille Kelly, just a few blocks from my apartment), so I'll have to finish this letter now.
Write soon, DO NOT FORGET.
With Love,
Violet-Louise
