Dear Steve,
I'm so proud of you! See, not all soldiers have to be brawny and strong to be amazing. I'm happy that your asthma hasn't bothered you too badly, but I'm a bit bothered that it acted up at all. I'm glad that you're going to write to Bucky. Speaking of one Mr. Barnes, I haven't gotten a letter from him in weeks. The last one I got was nearly three weeks ago, and I replied two days after I got it.
I can't wait to hear about that big thing you were going to do, you have to tell me all about it as soon as you can. It's so lonely without you here, Steve. Even though I have that new job with Miss Kelly to keep me occupied, it just doesn't feel right. I keep expecting to run into you at the greengrocer's, like I had for so many shopping trips when you were still here, but alas, I know I won't.
I made three flower arrangements yesterday, two for weddings and one, sadly, for a funeral. It was for a soldier named Samuel Pickard, whose body is on the way home from France right now. His poor mother was in tears when I gave it to her, because it was all red white and blue. Oh, I felt so terrible when I handed it over and she started to cry. Please write home to me soon.
With Love,
Violet-Louise
