To Miss Violet-Louise Jones,

A recent report submitted to me by Agent Elizabeth Carter and the War Department states the sad fact that your fiance, Captain Steven Rogers, U.S. Army, had gone M.I.A. a week and one half before today, and since then has been presumed most certainly dead, somewhere over the Atlantic ocean while on a classified mission.

I realize that there is not much that can be said to alleviate the the feelings of a fiancee over the loss of her beloved. I do, however, want to express to you my deepest sympathy, and tell you that Steven, Captain America, will be remembered by all in this great nation that he served and sacrificed his life for, as a legendary hero.

With kind regards, I am sincerely yours,

Col. Chester Phillips

U.S. Army

Head of the 107th Military Division
