Daehyun drew a few more people, before business became even slower than that morning. He was itching to read the next chapter and also to eat at least one bite from his forgotten sandwich. Why didn't he eat as he read on his break? Just as he was about to pull out his meal, his boss walked by.
"You can go home now, Daehyun. Your shift ended about ten minutes ago." Daehyun looked at him confused, but nodded as he grabbed his things. He quickly glanced at his watch, confirming that he indeed was off minutes ago.
"Goodbye!" Daehyun waved with a smile, exiting the noisy amusement park and driving to a quiet play park. He found his favorite shady tree, settling underneath it, before taking out his meal. He wanted to take time and eat his food in a slow manner so his stomach didn't ache later on in the day, but he was so hungry that before he knew it, the food was gone. He shrugged and took out his pad and pencil, randomly drawing things he could see.
"Excuse me, mister." Daehyun glanced up at a little kid standing in front of him. Daehyun was amazed at how much the kid actually looked like... no it couldn't be. Youngjae didn't move on and have a kid... did he? In only a month's time?
"Ne...?" Daehyun mumbled out, trying to focus back to the boy.
"Whatcha doing?" The boy asked, peering over Daehyun's sketch pad.
"Pretty much anything that comes to mind or my view." He answered, showing a few of his sketches.
"Wow! Hyung is so cool! Can hyung draw me?" Daehyun smiled, nodding as he handed the boy the notepad.
"Here. Write your name at the top of the page." It was more or less an excuse to know the boy's name, but then again the name at the top of the page would be a clue as to who it was. Daehyun didn't know if he should draw normally or in his creative way.
"Here you go hyung! My name is Jongup!" The little kid beamed, showing off his chubby cheeks. Daehyun wanted to reach over and pinch them, but he held back the urge.
"Hello Jonguppie. My name is Daehyun." Daehyun started to draw while listening to the kid rant on and on about his day and what he liked and didn't like. The boy was pretty energetic and sweet... like Youngjae... Daehyun thought.
"Jongup! Time to go!" Daehyun turned his attention to a woman who had just called the little boy keeping him company. The boy seemed sad, but got up to run to his mother.
"Wait, before you go Jongup." Daehyun tore out the page he had used to draw the energetic boy on and handed him it. "Keep it. I hope you like it." Jongup glanced at the picture of him. Daehyun had seem to capture all the features that not even Jongup knew he had.
"It's amazing hyung! Thank you! I hope I get to see you again soon!" Daehyun waved to the boy running off as he went back to his activities. The boys chubby cheeks reminded him so much of Youngjae, that he decided to read the next chapter of his book. He picked up the book and turned to where he left off.
Chapter 3:
Daehyun and I had a few more dates. Some were good and some were great. None were perfect, but each time I had fun. Daehyun made me feel so happy and young and just... me.
I remember our first movie date. I let him pick the movie since I wasn't really picky about what I watched. Of course he picked a scary movie, causing me to shake and hide behind my hands through most of it.
