Snow crunched under your feet as you slowly walked, seeking warmth and shelter. Every step repeated in a rhythm and reminded you that you were alone to fight for survival once again. Flowey may be with you, but he was defenseless against any enemy there may be. Your heart sank. You weren't ready to become an adult. Not this way.
Is there even anything else down here? Any more monsters that would attack or a way out? A dead end? You shivered and watched your breath come out in clouds. As a kid you would always pretend to be a dragon or that you were smoking when it was cold. But now, you just wanted your parents or anyone really.
You wished you could've saved Bennett. He risked his life for you. For all you know, he could be dead now. Or worse, he could be alive and with the crazy creature that you had also left behind. Would she blame him for your disappearance?
"Hey, don't let it bother you, (Y/N). Everything will turn out alright. He still has a chance, even if it is really slim," Flowey forced a smile for you.
Your face heated up as you broke down in tears. Unable to reply, you sat down against a tree. The snow made your legs feel numb when you sat in it. You didn't even care to wonder why it could snow underground. Pain started to spread across your chest in heartache. Soon, you were sure to die here in the forest.
Flowey was now buried in the freezing soil within your purse. He was sure to wilt here too. You weren't sure if he's even ever been out of the place you came from. It has to be for the better. To risk your life like you have, it has to be worth it in the end.
You stood up, wiped your tears off and continued through the path-like gap between the trees. There is an end to everything. A lonely branch almost blocked the way through. It looked too heavy to pick up, so you stepped over it. A few steps later you heard a loud snap.
Quickly, you dashed your head around. Your vision was going in and out of focus from the cold making it hard to concentrate. After seeking and finding nothing, you turned around. The branched had been crushed like it was nothing. It seemed almost impossible for anything to live out here. Maybe it was the cold that made it snap.
Even if you tried to shrug it off, you still wished someone was there. A small glimmer of hope and fear sparked inside you, each trying to dominate the other. After a while fear took over. You shivered from both the fear and the cold.
As you continued down the path you noticed there was a lot more branches that were laying broken on the ground. At one point, even a tree was torn from its roots. It took some effort to crawl over it. The branches and pines left scratches over your arms and legs, and tore your clothes.
When you were about to give up, a bridge with some tall poles around it came into view. It looked almost like it was supposed to be a trap, but the space between them was too wide to stop anyone. Someone has to be here. Bridges don't build themselves, even if it seems old and it might break when you step on it. It doesn't look like this place has ever been free of the snow.
"H-hell-hello?" Your teeth chattered together, making it hard to talk.
Footsteps sounded from behind you. You had stopped walking. Now you weren't sure if you could walk anymore. Your feet felt frozen to the snow. Was your mind making you hear things? Then they stopped. A red glow seemed to light up the snow around you.
"Heh heh heh... Don't you know how to greet a new pal?" The voice was deep and raspy. "Turn around and shake my hand," they finished. You reluctantly listened and turned.
A short skeleton was behind you holding out their hand. It took almost everything you had not to scream. After Toriel, you weren't sure how to feel about this monster. His left eye was glowing red as his other was smaller and white. The teeth attached to his skull were large and sharp, curled into an evil-looking smile. One of his teeth were covered in gold. He was short enough that he was wearing basketball shorts and they covered him. His fluffy jacket looked so warm. You needed it.
"Are you just going to stare?" He sounded impatient.
Your eyes widened in fear as you shook your head frantically. You reached your frozen hand out and grabbed his hand. Almost immediately, a sharp zap shot through your hand and up your arm, causing you to pull back and scream.
The skeleton smacked his forehead with his other hand and started laughing loudly. You glared at him and waited for him to stop. "Wow, kid. The look on your face is to die for!" He said finally between breaths.
"Anyway, I'm Sans, Sans the skeleton," You were about to share your name before he cut you off. "No need to tell me your name, because you won't be around long anyway. No body cares about you enough to call you by your name before you die." Your heart raced, making you heat up, but only just barely.
Sans grabbed your wrist and started to pull you across the bridge. "Now listen," he began, "I'm going to use you to surprise my brother, Papyrus. Humans don't fall down often so this is the only way I will ever get him to notice me. You say a word, and you're dead." He laughed at your fear. "Now go hide behind that broken lamp. No running, and you have to come out when I say." Out of fear, you obeyed.
The lamp was laying broken on the ground, so you had to lay besides it. To your relief, it actually hid you well. You watched as the short skeleton pulled out a cellphone and dialed on it. He yelled into the phone trying to convince someone to come over.
After seeing how short Sans was, you were expecting his brother to be around the same height. Instead, a tall and menacing skeleton walked over to Sans. He didn't have the same grin as the other skeleton as he glared down at him.
"So what did you need to show me?" His voice sounded as if he needed to force his voice deep.
"Boss you'll never believe it! I've finally done it, I caught a human!" Sans told him excitedly.
"You're right. I don't believe it. Call me back when you aren't wasting my time." Papyrus turned around and left, ignoring Sans complaints.
Sans growled and turned to look at where you were hiding. Everything around you seemed to turn a shade of red, making you confused. You couldn't move, only look around. Then you seemed to be lifted in the air towards the short skeleton.
"Well, guess who's coming to my house? Heh, just like a little pet!" He spit the last word at you and chuckled. "Don't worry, I'll keep you alive for Papyrus. So I'll use my shortcut and maybe warm you up a little." With that, he brushed his hand across your eyes. In one moment you were in the freezing forest, the next, you were in a small room that smelled of dirty socks.
Sans dropped you on the floor in front of him. Pain grew in the shoulder you fell on. You crossed your arms and held your hurt side. Afraid to make eye contact, you looked around the room instead. The mattress in one corner had a ball of blankets and sheets on it. By the bottom of the bed, a self-sustaining-trash-tornado twisted around. This room was a lazy hell.
Your thoughts were interrupted by a sharp pain in your gut. Sans had kicked you and didn't bother to remove his foot. "What's so interesting pet? Never been in someone else's place before? It's rude to ignore the host~" He kicked you again then left to sit on his bed.
You laid on your side holding your gut. The pain was worrying for the fact that you've never really been injured before. Not at home, not even here. Until, possibly now. Behind you, you could hear deep loud snoring. How can someone so cruel be so lazy? Once the pain faded a bit, you decided to try to sneak away.
Crumbs stuck to your palms as you crawled to the door. Exhausted and in pain, you struggled to reach the doorknob. Locked. You jiggled it a bit, hoping it was just stuck. Almost immediately the room turned a shade of red and paralyzed you.
"Going somewhere?" Sans turned you around to face him. He chuckled deeply, making your heart race. "You know what?" He snapped his fingers, "I have an idea," a spiked collar flashed in front of you, also floating in the air. Sans chuckled again as the magic made it wrap around your neck.
You tried to move, but your muscles were too weak from stress and his magic was too strong. Somehow you managed to move your mouth. "Stop! Why are you doing this!?" You begged him for an answer. Tears fell off of your face and onto the carpet.
"I used to ask those same questions." You couldn't tell if he was hurt or just angry. It doesn't really matter though, does it? Maybe it wasn't even either of those.
Sans threw you against the wall and left the room, locking the door. Reluctantly, from the cold, the fear, the pain, the exhaustion, you fell asleep. Curled up in the corner of the room. In a short light sleep.
