There is nothing but darkness, swallowing up your emotions and hiding you away from anything there might be. You don't know how you got here. In fact, you can't really remember anything. When you started to take a couple steps the ground lit up around your feet in little blue spots, like stars in the sky.
You sat down and the light escaped the floor and swarmed around you like fireflies. They sparkled in your hand after trying to catch them. Giggles escaped from inside you and echoed, making the whole place light up with every reverberation..
Nothing lasted long. The light hurried and gathered together to form the silhouette of someone. The figure walked over and knelt down next to you. Then, the light left. You recognized him as a friend, though the name seemed unimportant. He looked you in the eyes, his grey ones sparkling with the light that was there moments before.
His warms hands grabbed yours as he pulled you into a hug. "Don't forget me, okay?"
You nodded. It felt so right and you never wanted to let go. But, to your disappointment, he started to fade away.
"I'll be here soon..." Then he was gone. His words were now permanently engraved in your mind.
**********-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-**********
You jolted awake in a pool of sweat. By the looks of it, it was still dark out. It never really did get light outside, just slightly brighter than night. The memory of your dream came back after a while of silence and concentration. The boy from your dream... that was Bennett. You knew that now. The thing that freaked you out though, is that it felt so real. Dreams like that never happen to you.
Sans was still sleeping on his bed, long gone into the prison of sleep that seemed to love him so much. So, you decided you'd try to sneak out. The only problem right now is the collar and leash. Ever since he had decided to let you roam around the house, the bond seemed to weaken. That and he didn't really care to tie it so carefully anymore.
After you had successfully freed the tie of the leash you left. There was big red jacket thrown by the door that you decided you would wear. You figured it was sans due to the reek of cigarette smoke and the rounded shape that was pushed into the faux fur inside it. How a skeleton was fat seemed almost impossible to figure out.
Even with the coat on it was well below freezing outside. Dragon smoke, or so you called it, escaped your mouth while you ran away from the house that imprisoned you all this time. You want to go to the door, but you don't know where it is. The trees in snow that you remembered seemed to be everywhere.
Directions. You need directions. Lights shined in the distance and with the little hope that came from your dream, you followed them. Eventually you came across the library. Or 'LIBRARB' as it read. A broken letter 'Y' was half buried in the snow next to the building. Out of all places in this area, this has to be the friendliest right? Well you're about to find out.
The moment you walked in you could feel the mood change. A few new monster eyes were on you and the place smelled of fresh smoke. Before you could get a good look at any of them you were pushed into the wall. A green scaled monster glared at you through her broken glasses.
"Are you here to mock us about our sign outside?" She growled.
"N-no... I just wanna know where I am and how to get ho-ACH!" The monster wrapped her hands around your throat, digging her claws into your neck.
"Don't know how to get home, huh? Don't know where you are? So..." She paused. Her face curled into a smirk. The grip on your neck seemed to loosen and allowed you to breathe.
"Guess what girls." ‘Crap, there’s more,’ you thought as she continued to talk. "I think we got ourselves a human."
"Oh really?" A raspy voice responded from your right. You tried to turn to look but stopped when you couldn't breathe again.
"Think we should call Undyne? Or maybe Papyrus?"
‘Papyrus please! Don't call the other person!’ You tried to quickly plan some way to convince her to call the skeleton. Survival chances were better with him. Well, you hoped it was.
"Papyrus is closer you idiot. Undyne is also probably on vacation to spend time with that shitty scientist anyways." The raspy voice answered again.
A new voice piped in before the monster in front of you could shout. "Or maybe we could even finish some of my books with this human. I can finally finish Human Torture Stories." They laughed at themselves.
Everyone in the room (besides yourself) laughed with them. You felt the grip loosen again and decided this was your best chance to run. Luckily, it was easy to slip away from her. You made it out the door and ran. It didn't came across your mind that you were only going further from the place you had originally left.
You tripped on a dead tree lying on the ground. Broken glass surrounded it and dug into the skin on your face, legs and arms. Tears streamed down your face while you tried to pick them out. ‘Did I pass this on the way here?’ Now you weren't sure how to get back to where you now decided was safer than outside. Reluctantly you decided to call out to him.
"Sans! P-Papyrus!" The cold of outside froze your lips and made speech awkward. "H-help!" You cried out again. After a while, defeat rushed through your thoughts. Crying, tired and cold, you curled up next to the dead tree.
Everything there was to think about and now was the perfect time to contemplate your life decisions. You didn't want to face the truth anymore. Bennett, you thought he was gone for sure. The dream you had, had given you hope for a little while. Now... Flowey was gone too. You had checked on him a few days after being captured when you realized how quiet he had become. He was just a normal sunflower. Even after all the things you tried to do to revive him, he never came back.
In your eyes you failed everyone. Your parents when you left them. The alcohol alone was too much, but now to them you're missing. You didn't try to save Bennett with you. Something could've been done before.
...But there is something that can be done...
Flowey had told you about the resets. That defeat you were feeling moments before left and replaced itself with determination. How do you reset though? Flowey had said you had to die before. You couldn’t do that. Could you?
It is worth the risk. If you die and can’t reset, you're sure at this moment it would be better than being here. But if you die and you can reset... You can fix everything. Now how would you go about that? The best way you decided to die was to be killed. ‘Just this one time,’ you told yourself.
Shaking from both the cold and fear, you stood up. The library was the closest so all you need to do is go in and... and... pick a fight with them. Your heart raced faster as you neared the building. The glow came back and made your legs feel heavy.
Each step was a weighted effort that was overpowered by your determination. Determination to leave. Determination to save Bennett. Determination to save Flowey… determination to help Sans. Maybe he could be happy too.
The entrance was now right in front of you. More determined than ever, you walked in.
