Regrets

Bennett opened his eyes and glanced around his surroundings. At first he had looked around almost like he was empty. Blank. He could've gone the whole day without thinking or caring, except something was off.

This isn't his room.

Painfully he sat up and panicked. His stomach complained against him. It felt as if he hasn't had food in days. His lips were chapped and his mouth was dry. Bennett growled and cupped his face in his hands. Right now, nothing could remind him how he got there or where he was.

Suddenly he recalled the last moments he could remember. It didn't come all at once. First, he was alone and... sad? Something had upset him. Wait... It came flooding back. The party, the mountain, the ruins.

When (Y/N) had gone inside Bennett decided to take the chance to hide. Behind the tree where they had entered the room there was a different way to go. If they had straight, instead of turning to the house, he figured that would've been the way out of the ruins.

Instead all he had found was a dead end. A broken plastic knife was shattered on the ground in one corner. The toy was covered in dust making it hard to notice right away, but when he did he took it and sat next to the dust. The broken edges were sharp enough to tear skin. At the time he had self defense.

His safety didn't last long though. Toriel had gone the other way to search for him as he had hoped, but when he wasn't seen elsewhere she had only one last place to look. She found him while he had fallen asleep. Her growl disturbed his light nap and sent a rush of adrenaline through him.

He fought with all he had. Trying so hard to get her neck or stomach, he got weaker by the seconds. It has been a while since he has had a good sleep. His body slowly gave up. Toriel didn't go easy on him and told him he was to be punished for his misbehavior. Her fire magic was easy to avoid at first but only seemed to grow stronger. Eventually the pain became too much before Bennett passed out and face-planted on the floor.

Bennett remembered everything now. He figured that he was inside the house of the goat-lady's. Or hopefully it was all just a crazy dream. No... his pain was real. Her fire magic wasn't that hot, he figured that she really didn't want to kill him, but she did want him to suffer and 'learn'.

So he carefully pried himself off the bed at tip-toed towards the door while he glanced around the room for anything suspicious. The room really wasn't even that big, but with all the things he has been through, even before all this, he is always careful. Secretly, he hoped this was all a dream, and it still hasn't ended.

A quiet conversation could be heard to his right as he tried to listen to what they were saying. Their words echoed off the cold stained walls but were too muffled to be heard. He reluctantly left the room. There were stairs almost right outside the door. The sound didn't come from there so maybe he could explore a little bit.

On his way down one of the stairs creaked, scaring him and making him freeze. The conversation went quiet but then started up again so he dashed down the stairs. A furry hand pulled back on his shoulder. Sweat dripped down his face as he turned around to face the crazy monster.

"Let's go upstairs to play dear," she smiled down at him, not giving him a choice.

"Mmm hmm..." He agreed.

Toriel guided him to the kitchen and sat him down at the table next to (Y/N). She glanced over at him with a look of release over her face. Bennett was confused. It seemed like (Y/N) and the goat lady were almost comfortable with each other.

"I'll go get you two some snacks," Toriel smiled and made her way to the other room. He sighed. At least she was gone now. Even if just for a moment.
