Fire dances across the fingers of my right hand while tentacles of water flowed around my left, holding the bag of precious jewels. My hair swirled around from the tornado I was creating around my body. Yes, I could control the four basic elements...Kinda like Aang. How? I trained for years mastering these certain elements underwater in Atlantis. I wasn't Atlantean, so I couldn't breathe underwater, but I had connections. The king had one of his sorcerers place a spell that let me breathe underwater whenever I was in Atlantis. I heard a wild yell from behind me. I response, I rose a clenched fist and a solid piece of earth smacked Superboy in the chest, sending him flying backward. The tornado stopped and I sent flames towards Ms. Martian. Kid Flash ran towards me and knocked me off my feet. When I stood up, a wave of water was surging at me. I raised my open palms and fought against Aqualad, my old friend. He was actually one of the people who accepted me as a student, instead of an outsider. I had considered him a friend until I was kicked banished from Atlantis. The king simply didn't trust me and didn't want me getting any stronger with my powers, therefore revoking my citizenship and my ability to breathe underwater. Kaldur was much stronger than me and started to force the wave towards me even harder. My arms started to shake from the effort of keeping the wave at bay.

Suddenly, someone clamped an inhibitor collar around my neck and the water crashed down around me, cutting off my air supply. I gasped from the impact of the wave, but I didn't inhale air, I inhaled water. My back was on the hard ground from the wave hitting me and my lungs were burning up from the water inside. Violent coughs racked my body and my vision started going black. I tried, unsuccessfully, to turn onto my side. I couldn't stop coughing.

"(Y/N)!" I heard Kaldur yell my name. He ran to me and carefully held me on my side. Finally, I coughed up the water in my lungs and curled into a ball, leaning into Kaldur. My cheeks were wet from tears. I admit, that was scary. Almost drowning is not the way I want to go. I looked up at Kaldur and saw the concern in his eyes. Seeing this caused more tears to fall down my face.

"I'm sorry," I mumbled. Kaldur held me close. "You were right. You always told me that I was making a mistake." I was sobbing at this point. "You were right. I'm sorry. I'm sorry. I'm sor-" I was cut off by Kaldur's lips pressed against my own. I relaxed and took my first deep breath since I inhaled water.

"(Y/N) it's ok," Kaldur whispered. I shook my head and held my hands out, waiting for someone to handcuff me.

"I'm the bad guy," I said. "I don't save the day, I don't fly off into the sunset...and I don't get a happy ending." I grabbed the bag of jewels and placed it in Kaldur's lap. I stood and walked over to Batman who had just shown up to apprehend me once the team had shut me down. I held my wrists out to him and he slowly handcuffed them together. Batman escorted me back over to Aqualad and I kept my eyes trained on the ground.

"Take (V/N) to Belle Reve," he ordered. Kaldur looking like he was about to argue, but nodded. Tears slowly dripped down my cheeks as Kaldur gently gripped my arm. He led me over to his motorcycle and lifted two helmets out of the seat compartment. Kaldur carefully placed one over my (H/C) hair. I refused to meet his eyes as he clipped the chin strap, securing the helmet on my head. Kaldur sighed and undid my handcuffs.

"You won't he able to hold on with these things on," Kaldur explained. "I'll put them back on when we get to Belle Reve." He climbed on the bike and I carefully slid on behind him.

"Okay," I spoke quietly as Kaldur fastened his own helmet on. I cautiously wrapped my arms around his waist as the bike started moving, waiting for Kaldur to shrug them off, but he never did. Kaldur sped off down the road and I held on even tighter. The ride was silent until Kaldur spoke over the headset in the helmets.

"You might not want to hear this," his voice entered my helmet. "But ever since you left, I thought about you every single day. I tried to convince myself that this was for the best and that I was meant to be with Tula. But the more I thought about it, the more I realized that...I loved you. Not Tula." Thoughts ran through my head and we sat in silence for another couple on moments. "Please say something."

"Kaldur," I spoke. Here it goes. The truth. "The king never banished me." He was silent, but slowed down a bit.

"Please explain," Kaldur said quietly. I sighed and took a deep breath.

"I left because every time that I saw you with Tula; every touch, every smile that you shared with her, broke me. I loved you from the first time I saw you and I never stopped loving you. You were always kind to me when no one else was. You didn't care that I wasn't Atlantean, you just knew that I was there for a reason. I loved you more every day, yet you always chose Tula over me." Tears were now streaming down my face again. "I left because I loved you so much, I had to let you go." Kaldur slammed on the brakes and I squealed, holding onto him tighter in order not to get thrown off. Once the bike was stopped he jumped off, threw his helmet down and tore mine off. Kaldur's lips crashed into mine and his hands tangled themselves in my hair. It took me a moment to respond, but when I did, I greedily kissed him back. He moved closer to me and put one hand on my waist, the other still latched onto my hair.

"Will you give me a second chance?" Kaldur asked once we parted.

"If you promise me one thing," I bargained.

"Anything," Kaldur begged.

"Visit me in prison?" I asked.

"Of course."
