**Special thanks to LittleRue for the AMAZING cover!! :) **
>>> Thats what i think Noel and Frost will look like. (well... kinda) Sorry the photo looks kinda smallish.. had some trouble.. haha.
The dark light of the moon shone down on Frost, turning his golden hair a stunning white. He could see his frosty breath on the breeze as he dashed through the bright field of bright snow. Soft snowflakes fluttered into his hair, though the wind quickly brushed them out again. The falling snow covered his tracks as if he had never been there, making it nearly impossible for him to be found.
They'll never find me here, I can be free... He thought to himself, extremely elated to leave the deathtrap he called home. Never again would he put up with his arrogant parents leaving him and his brothers with the nanny. His sister, Noel, begged to follow, but Frost knew if he brought her with, it would make too much work for him to look after her. She was twelve, three years younger than him. He was hardly able to protect her from his brothers roughhousing with her. His brothers were twins, and two years older than he. They always played hockey in the house, hardly concerned when Noel squealed if the ball hit her. Why were they so careless of their little sister? She needs to be looked after, not ignored, but still. She would be safer in their household than out in the wild with little shelter and always on the move, but...
Frost stopped abruptly, swinging his backpack into the snow. He regretted leaving her behind with them, and he couldn't risk getting caught going back for her. Then again… Noel was a sweet little girl, not a toy to be horsed around with. He knew he had to go back, but in this weather it would be useless to go on. The light snow had quickly turned into a blizzard, and he would have to camp here for the night.
He bent down, grabbed his backpack and unzipped it. He yanked the tent kit from inside. Slowly but surely, he began piecing the set together bit by bit.
Frost checked his waterlogged watch. He brushed the snowflakes, packed to the watch's face, to the gradually collecting snow on the kit. It read 5:08pm. Frost sighed; he would have to set up the tent faster if not to be thoroughly concealed with the icy flakes.
He persistently worked for a half an hour, slushy snow dripping down his back as he stepped into the tent and zipped it up. He positioned his green sleeping bag on the floor near the center of the tent, and his black flashlight and giant green lunch bag to its right. Frost sighed; this wasn't going to be easy. He had never thought about the fact he would need a lot more food than just the one bag. Maybe I should go back...I could get Noel and she could help me carry more back here. Yes, that's what I'll do. He decided. Tomorrow morning I'll go back for her while our brothers are out for their morning run. Settling down in the cozy sleeping bag, he pulled out his faded yellow book and began to read.
The next morning, Frost's eyes flickered open to a figure standing over him. He leaped from the sleeping bag and hit the tent's wall, making it shudder the snow off of the top.
“Sorry, did I startle you?” it asked him. Frost sighed with relief and gazed into his sister’s green eyes. They glittered with amusement as he staggered to his feet, attempting to stand without leaning against the tent and toppling it over.
“Hi Noel.” he greeted her, trying to hide his delight. “Not to be blunt or anything but…why are you here, and how did you follow me?” Noel giggled.
“It wasn’t that hard. I wasn’t too far behind you in the first place, so I just followed your footprints. Then, while you were setting up the tent, I sat patiently about a yard or so from you. I’m surprised you didn’t notice.” her shimmering eyes stared up at him happily.
