Frost sat at the front of the plane, Noel seated next to him, and stared out the window. It was a bright Coloradomorning, and the snow-capped mountains looked stunning. Frost thought that there couldn’t possibly be anywhere in the world that was quite as beautiful as this. He let out a sigh and pulled his head from the window, leaning against the chair. He shirted his back slightly. Geez these chairs sure are uncomfortable. He thought, looking over at Noel. She was reading her book contentedly, hardly giving a care about the chair and its lack of comfort.
Finding nothing better to do, Frost turned around to talk to Aurora, who was sitting behind him. He felt really bad about their argument and wanted to apologize and make sure she was all right.
“Hey…Aurora?”
“What?” She snapped, glowering at him from behind his seat. Frost expected this, and sighed.
“Are you ok?” He inquired nervously, trying to sound as sincere as he possibly could.Aurora rolled her eyes, clearly still mad at him.
“I don’t know what makes you so stupid,” She hissed, “But whatever it is… It really works.” Frost was taken aback. She was always rude to him, but she’d never directly insulted him before…and even this came out of nowhere. Aurora sighed. “Don’t look so insulted…” Frost furrowed his eyebrows, clearly puzzled. First she calls me stupid and then…what? “…I’m sure you get that a lot.”
“What?!” he snarled at her between the seats.Aurora snickered, and Danielle, who was sitting to her left, giggled. Frost glared at her.
“Oops, I’m sorry. Uh, that wasn’t funny… Nope, not funny at all.” Danielle stuttered.
Aurora rolled her eyes at her companion and turned back to Frost to finish her explanation. “Do I have to explain everything? I told you not to look so insulted, because I’m sure you’re called stupid quite often. See, this clearly proves how retarded you are.” Frost wanted to punch her in the face, but of course he couldn’t… she was a girl. And Cynder would kill him if he hurt Aurora. Instead, he gripped the edge of his seat tightly while the girl laughed. “You bet she would be!”
Frost spun around in his seat, fuming. Noel was sucked into her book and hadn’t heard a word of their conversation, and he was glad. Noel was sure to join in on the fun of making fun of him also. Frost turned back towardsAurora and glared.
“I’d like to kick you in the face, but why should I improve your looks?” He shot at her.Aurora looked incredibly insulted. Danielle began giggling again, but clamped a hand over her mouth whenAurora shot her a dirty look.
“Keep talking. Someday you’ll say something smart! But it looks like it’s gonna take a while.” She growled back. Danielle began laughing uncontrollably. Frost scowled at her.
“Do you practice being this ugly?” He retorted, snickering asAurora’s face turned bright red as her anger increased considerably. Danielle had her hand plastered firmly to her mouth, hardly muffling her laughter that escaped. The duo barely noticed that the plane had already left the ground and continued their argument.
“Did your parents ever ask you to run away from home?” He growled at her. Danielle now couldn’t stop laughing even if she wanted to.
Aurora fumed. She looked just about ready to explode. “Isn’t that why you ran away?”Aurora almost shouted. All three became silent. Frost looked truly hurt, and glared at her as he turned to face forward. Danielle looked surprised at Aurora who didn’t look phased in the least.
