Noel woke up to Aurora floating her suitcase in circles above her head. She glanced towards Aurora, watching as she controlled it by just the slow movement of her pointer finger. Noel's eyes widened as Aurora moved it down slightly and then back up towards the ceiling, intending that Noel had better get out of bed quickly. She had just barely uncovered herself and leaped from the bed by the time the suitcase came crashing down on the mattress, narrowly missing it as it grazed her left side. Noel looked at the ground, her palms holding her up. She lifted her head slightly, glaring at Aurora as the teenager stood up, the springs of the bed groaning softly as she did so.
“What time is it?” Noel whined, hoisting herself up from the floor and brushing the dust from her soft, red pajama pants. Aurora pointed to the silver clock that was nailed to the wall. She squinted, trying to make out the numbers as her eyes adjusted to the bright sunlight that streamed in from the window. When her eyes finally focussed, she saw that the clock read 8:00am. Cynder said we had to leave at 8:30... Noel thought with a sigh. Which means...
“Why didn't you wake me sooner?” She yelled at Aurora who responded with a slight shrug and a smirk. Noel shook her head with irritation. “I have to get dressed!” She dashed to the closet on her side of the room where she had neatly hung a bright pink shirt with a black kitten design on the front, and a pair of dark, nice looking jeans. Thank God we're allowed to wear jeans to get first class now, its a more comfy trip! She thought with a sigh of relief, quickly dressing down to her undergarments and pulling the pants on. She fought to get the shirt on over her head, though she was finally able to pull it on. Then, she quickly grabbed a pair of sparkling pink boots to match and jerked one on while hopping up and down on one foot. She did the same with the opposite foot, nearly losing her balance and falling backwards.
“Noel? What's taking you so long? We're already half-way through breakfast!” Frost called from the kitchen. The mouthwatering smell of crepes and maple-bacon filled her nostrils. Noel shook her head and dashed to the bathroom as quick as possible.
“I'll be there in a minute!” she called, grabbing Aurora's purple brush and quickly running it through her hair. She splashed her face with some cold water, too impatient to wait for it to up, and gargled with some mouthwash. I can brush my teeth later... She thought, quickly drying her face and mouth and dashing right back out of the bathroom. The suitcase was still sitting there on her bed, waiting for her. She grabbed the handle and pushed the button, pulling the orange bag off of the bed. It thudded onto the floor as she yanked it off of the bed.
Hurrying down the hall quickly, the bag rolling behind her, Noel began thinking about the trip. They were going on an adventure! Even though this wasn't to Chicago, it would still be thrilling. This would be no ordinary vacation, as despite the fact she didn't know why this was quite so important, it sure felt as though all of man-kind were depending on her... Well, at least, it was fun to pretend.
“Took you long enough...” Aurora snickered, snacking on her bacon. Noel huffed, rolling her eyes dramatically. Danielle laughed from across the room. A sweet, sugary scent now enveloped her.
“What are you doing?” Noel asked her, sniffing deeply and feeling as though she were in heaven. Danielle only giggled and poured the mysterious liquid from the heated pan and into a small white bowl. Noel left her suitcase in the middle of the floor and walked into the kitchen. She padded over to where Danielle was and peered into the bowl. A small amount of a golden-bronze liquid steamed and glistened at the bottom. Noel cocked her head curiously and attempted to dip her finger in it, but Danielle pulled it away.
“Hey! I just wanted to taste it!” Noel cried, furrowing her eyebrows and clenching her fists. Danielle rolled her eyes.
“Dip the bacon in it.” Was Danielle's only reply as she set the bowl on the table. Noel looked confused, but both Frost and Aurora began coating the tip of their bacon strip in the viscous liquid. Aurora was tasting it tentatively while Frost was already crunching away.
