Phil's smile faulted, disappearing as he looked at Dan.

"Dan-" suddenly the image disappeared. Dan jumped, blinking rapidly, trying to re-see Phil again. His heart continued to race as he tried desperately to somehow bring Phil back.

"Phil!" He cried out softly. "Phil!"

But it was gone. Whatever he had spoken to, was gone.

Dan stood for a moment, still shaking from the overwhelming shock and joy in seeing and hearing Phil again.

In the back of his mind a voice was talking. Maybe, it said. Just maybe Phil isn't gone. Maybe you can bring him back. . .

After a while Dan picked up his coffee again. He pressed the burning edge to his lips, this time flinching when the liquid scalded him. He blew on it and slowly began to drink, pacing round the small room as he thought about the whole incident.

Perhaps Phil was calling him, from wherever he was? Perhaps there was still a chance that they could reunite?

He was positive he had seen Phil. He knew he had. He just had to figure out how to bring him back and keep him here.

Dan walked back into his room and picked up his flower crown. He neatly unfolded the scrunched petals and delicate placed it on his head. He walked out of the room again, the crown settled in the soft layers of his hair, the first faint whisper of a smile on his lips.
