"Don't be such a baby Gid!" Pacifica shouted from the top of the water tower, turning around to take in the view. It was astounding, with the lights twinkling in the distance and the mountain backdrop adding spirit to the town. As Pacifica walked around the water tower she looked at the other places. To one side there was a giant forest and another side held a lake surrounded by trees where she could see the water rippling. On the other side, Pacifica could see the Northwest mansion, at this time probably containing a sleeping Dipper and Mable, plus their unnamed father.

"Ugh." Gideon muttered as he held his stomach and leaned against the middle of the tower, right on top of a spray painted muffin. Or was it a cupcake? Either way, it was wet. And sticky. "Crap." Gideon whispered as he pried himself from the wall.

"language!" Pacifica warned sarcastically as she helped Gideon take his vest off. Gideon rolled his eyes and hung it on the railing.

"That was my favorite too." Gideon sulked, looking at the red stripe on the back of his vest.

"Shh." Pacifica said suddenly, holding a finger to her lips.

"No, you know how much I-" Gideon started, holding his head up high.

"Seriously Gid, shut up!" Pacifica whispered ferociously, instantly causing Gideon to be silent. Suddenly without warning, Pacifica pulled Gideon to the other side of the water tower in one quick motion, and peered around the side, watching a figure climb up. The figure then straightened up and flicked back their hair in a very familiar fashion. The figure then continued to climb onto the rail and tight rope walk around the water tower, causing Pacifica and Gideon to have to circle the tower multiple times to stay out of the figure's line of sight.

Eventually, after nearly five laps around the water tower, the figure stopped and stared into the sky. Pacifica, being the curious girl that she is, then decided to crawl behind the figure, hiding in the shadows of the water tower.

"Cifica!" Gideon mouthed, all his urgency conveyed on his face. Pacifica then held a finger to her lips and continued towards the figure. As she stopped behind the figure, the person suddenly jumped backwards in a backflip, and their eyes connected for a second before they disappeared above her, landing on the very top of the water tower. During that moment, Pacifics's heart felt like it was going to burst out of her chest. Gideon was staring open mouthed at the place the figure had disappeared from.

As Pacifica finally got her heart to stop thumping, it was once again shocked as a hand appeared from the top of the tower, beckoning for someone to grab on.

"Pacifica!" Gideon whispered to her, horror spreading through his face as she stared at the hand. "Cifica, don't!"

With a smile at Gideon, Pacifica shakily stood up and grabbed the hand, feeling it tighten around her as she felt a jerk pulling her upwards. Suddenly, Pacifica was sprawled out on the top of the water tower, looking into the smiling face of Mable Northwest.

"Glad you could join me in my sanctuary." Mable said, staring up at the sky, her hair whipping back and forth.

"Could we let my friend up here?" Pacifica asked, nervously wringing her hands together. She was fine with being at the very top of a water tower, but it was Mable that made her nervous. After all the warnings she and Gideon had received about the Northwests, she wasn't too eager to be alone with one.

"Just a minute." She said, holding up a hand. "I want to have a little girl time." Pacifica quickly felt herself flush, as she stiffly continued to sit up.

"What do you need from me?" She asked, nervously twisting her hair.

"Oh it's nothing horribly bad." Mable said, checking her perfect nails for dirt. "I was just hoping you could tell me something." At this, Mable looked at Pacifica. As Mable stared into her eyes, Pacifica saw something she hadn't expected to see in a Northwest, fear.

"It depends if I know the answer or not." Pacifica said, her posture relaxing.

Mable sighed, closing her eyes and looking back at the sky. "What do you know about your uncle's family tree?" Pacifica was left speechless by this. What did she know about her grunkle's family tree? She only just now started getting to know him, so there wasn't much.

"Well, I know that he has a brother he doesn't really talk about and a sister, my mother whom I live with in California. That's all I really know." Pacifica said, an apologetic look on her face, but Mable didn't really seem to mind her lack of information. In fact she looked ecstatic.

"Oh, thank you!" Mable whisper shouted, unconsciously hugging Pacifica, a big smile on her face. "Oh." Mable said after a moment, realizing what she had done, blushing and going back to her seated position. "I'm sorry." She said, putting her head down. Pacifica smiled and bumped her on the shoulder.

"What are you apologizing for? Aren't you used to receiving random hugs?" Pacifica asked jokingly, though as she said this, Mables face fell.

"I'm not really used to being hugs at all." Mable whispered, brow creased as Pacifica gasped, staring at Mable. "We should pull your friend up, now shouldn't we?" Mable said quickly, jumping up and bending over the side, extending her hand. With a grunt of effort, Gideon was there, lying in front of Pacifica.

"Man Cifica, I thought you had been eaten or some...thing." Gideon started, as he realized who the figure head been. "Umm." He gulped, desperately rubbing the back of his head and blushing furiously. Mable, thankfully, wasn't really paying that much attention. Instead she was looking at the stars, searching for something. As Gideon got control of his emotions, Mable sighed and pointed towards a group of stars.

"Right there is the Big Dipper." She started, tracing the constellation through the sky. "And there is the Little Dipper. Oh, and theres Virgo. That's my zodiac by the way." Mable sighed contently as she gazed at the stars. "When I was younger, I would come her every night to gaze at the stars. They really were my only escape, but now I'm so busy with work and other things that I don't get to come up here very often." Pacifica gasped as she understood what Mable was implying. Mable turned her head to them and winked. "I guess you guys just caught me on a good day." And with that, Mable jumped down and disappeared. Pacifica and Gideon were left awe-struck at her story. How had they chosen such a rare time to come up here?

"Well, at least now we know that at least one of the Northwest's aren't heartless." Pacifica said, still staring at the spot she had leapt from, Gideon was too busy drooling over himself to hear her.

"She's a Virgo." He muttered, staring into the stars. Pacifica smiled and rolled her eyes as she watched her friends affection grow stronger. Pacifica and Gideon then spent hours up at the top of the water tower, staring into the sky, Gideon breaking the silence every once in a while to mutter something about Mable. As the time went on, Pacifica's eyes grew heavy and she started to doze off, Gideon's snores waking her every once in a while. Soon after, the exhaustion of the day caught up to Pacifica and she slowly, calmly drifted to sleep.

"Why did you show them kindness?" The twins father asked Mable, twisting the memory gun in his hands, constantly changing the settings.

"What do you mean father?" Mable asked, once again kneeling before her father's throne, though she couldn't remember ever doing so before.

"Well, the Northwests are not kind hearted people, though your making it seem like so." He said, stopping the knob so that the screen read kindness. "We need people to love us, but fear us as well."

"Why? Why can't we be kind?" Mable urged, lifting her head to stare into her father's eyes.

"No matter what, your kindness will always be used against you." And with the press of the trigger, Mable was once again lying on the ground, clutching her head.
