It was morning and Wiishu hasn't came back home yet. Mark was still sleeping and Marzia was taking a shower in the bathroom. I watched the bright sun rise up and lit the sky, the cold window was covered in water droplets. It was damn cold last night and Mark practically used me as a blanket.
I woke up Mark, his eyes fluttered open slowly. First he gave out a yawn, then a kiss that barely made it to my lips.
"Hi Jack."
I smiled, "Hi Mark."
Mark got up and stretched his body, yawning once again with all his might. He grabbed his glasses and wore them as he scanned the room.
"Where's Signe? I thought her shift ended am I right?"
I scratched my head and bopped it left, cracking the lose ends out. I looked at the wall clock, time was already showing 9 am.
"She's probably on the way, I mean, her shift ends at 8:30 so...we don't have to worry about anything." I said as I got up. I went towards Mark and wrapped my arms around his neck, watching his eyes grow in excitement for what I was going to do.
"Take a shower," I kissed his forehead, "then maybe, once Signe comes back, we'll start venturing out from this dreadful room." I told him, we were going to have a little bit of fun.
Mark nodded as Marzia came out from the bathroom. I was surprised she had already worn her clothes. Her hair was wrinkling wet as she wiped it off with a towel.
"Lazy boys, you guys wake up incredibly late," She paused, "Have you guys checked on Ken?"
"Nope, he's still sleeping I guess. Let's not wake him up just yet, might take a while for him to recover." I replied, sounding agitated to check on him.
Mark went into the bathroom and took a quick shower as I waited my turn. Marzia went into the kitchen to make some coffee for us. It was kinda late for a coffee sip but we needed to stay alert, we were all basically still a bit sleepy.
Marzia came out with a three mugs of coffee in her hands, one for me and the rest was placed onto the table. She sat right beside me, picking up the blueprint and opening it over the table again.
"What if this thing was real Jack?" She began. I knew these types of blueprints were the key to humanity's survival but the probability of it being a true concept was very hard to believe.
"Well, people have been searching for this shit and they're searching for us too. Maybe it's real, maybe not, but I won't risk my life going out there to Sector Zero." I replied, pouting my lips at the end.
"Yeah, but, don't we need this?" Marzia stated as she stared at me.
I sighed, "Yea, we do."
Suddenly, Wiishu came in barging through the front door. Her hair was messed up and her left eye was purple bruised. I got up and came towards her, checking the bruise over her face.
"What happened to you!" I exclaimed as I tried to see the injury. She flinched left and grabbed her bag, looking like she was trying to run away from something.
"Wade's men, they're after me." Wade? Who's that.
"Who the fuck is wade? And why are they onto you?"
Wiishu didn't have time to explain, neither did I have the time to get a shower. Mark came out from the bathroom, confused of what was going on. I ran over to him and gave him a new pair of clothes that I found last night.
"Merk, Signe got a sick bruise on her eye." I whispered. Mark gave me a 'huh?' look and immediately grabbed the clothes.
"She got a bruise? How?"
Apparently Wiishu was only talking to Marzia since they were closer to each other, but I can't seem to have a certainty that Wiishu was probably playing a dumb trick on us. Then, I heard chains, swiveling down the hall from outside.
"It's them, we need to go." Wiishu said, going over to the window and sliding it open.
Ken then came out from his room and did the same morning procedure that Mark did. Only that he, doesn't have to think about the situation. Marzia pulled Ken and straightaway walked towards the window, going out slowly with ease. Ken didn't know what was going on but he thought of it as an emergency.
Behind, Mark secured the front door with the table, just in case they try to get in. We could stay, but that would lead us being perfect intruders in the sector.
The two of us were the only left, I tilted my head out the window and saw the other three climbing down a small ladder. Mark came up behind me as he holstered a handgun in my pocket.
"Come on!" Wiishu yelled from below.
Mark held my waist and helped me out, slowly and carefully be both descended down.
I could hear the door getting banged on, they were already here. As we got down, Wiishu pointed her finger into the alleyway straight ahead. It was right on the other side of the Main Street and people were crawling all about in that area.
"Guys what's going on." Ken asked, he was in the state of grogginess. I could see his pale face, the infection was spreading really quick.
"I don't know, we'll just have to follow Signe." I replied as we trailed behind her.
Mark held my hands as we all plunged through the horde of strangers. They watched us go in the other direction, bumping into the other people.
"Signe Hansen stop!" Someone yelled out. Everyone stopped in their tracks.
Wiishu turned around and so did we. In front, stood a huge man holding a machine gun, a lighted cigar in his mouth and black shades that hid his eyes from us.
"We know you are hiding Septics."
Everyone gasped, fuck.
