It was a normal day for me. Normal being I woke up at 10:45 and stayed in bed on my laptop for two plus hours scrolling through 'Tumblr' and listening to nightcore remixes of Muse. However I felt productive today. I felt like cleaning out of all things. I decide to start in my attic. I throw my covers off and grab my phone sitting on my dresser before walking out of my bed room and into a hall until I reached the cord that you pulled down on in order to get to the attic stairs-it creaked as I pulled it down. Small particles of dust flying down and sunshine from the window hit them causing them to look silver. I climb up the steps-each step creak having a different sound. I reach the top and pull myself inside. I look around at the dark attic only light coming from a small porthole looking window, boxes, book shelves, and old furniture covered in creamy looking plastic were scattered all about the room. I walk to the boxes stacked in a corner. One box caught my attention in particular. It was labeled 'CHILDHOOD ITEMS' in big bold black sharpie. I still remember watching my mom write that on it as I got the moving van packed. I walk to the box being sure not to trip over any other boxes or loose floorboards. I kneel down next to the box and take the silver duckt tape off of it. A ripping noise following. The first thing laying on top was a baby blanket. My dad being a big fan of Nirvana had made my mom find nirvana material and make me a baby blanket. I forgot about it-but it was still soft. I took it in my hands and carried it over to another box that was labeled "BLANKETS" and say it onto being sure I would find at least six more blankets. The next thing was a photo album. I quickly flipped through it laughing at some times tearing up at others and sometimes being so confused. As I was about to get up and place the album with the rest o the family photos a picture fell out. It was of me and my best friend. We were in my old room that was painted an ash gray color with fairy lights by my bed that we were seated on. We were wearing matching jackets we had gotten a few years prior to the time the photo was taken. We both had goofy grin on our faces, holding up a peace sign with one hand while the others were wrapped around one another. Even though we were the definition of cringey in this photo, we were the best. I place the photo and the album with the rest of the pictures on a shelf. I walked back to the box and moved the next item out of the way. A small bag with some old toys that I must have refused to get rid of. I sat them on the side. A yearbook was next. I smiled at my memories laid out before me. I reached a picture of a certain person and my mind was shot back in time. I walked through the doors of my new school. I felt eyes landing on me. Not kind eyes-eyes I knew would hurt me. I over heard a few whispers of unkind words. I ignored them and walked to the office. "Umm I-I'm new? I um I need a locker and my schedule." "Name?" The office worker spat at me bluntly. I gave my name and watched as she typed hard on her keyboard. Almost slamming down on the keys. I heard the printer starting up. The sound of air and the screech of one of the wheels. I waited for them to be done. She handed me my pages and told me where I needed to go to get a locker. I walked to the principles office. I was invited in and explained how I was new and needed a locker-preferably by myself. I was handed a pice of paper with a number and a 3 part combination. I stood adjusting the strap of my backpack and walked down the hall and into a hall filled with light half lockers. Locker 226 I was here. I let my bag fall to the floor as I put in toe combination '4-24-14'. I failed on my first attempt but got it on my second. I grabbed my bag off the floor and looked at my schedule, I grabbed my binder out of the bag and placed the bag into my locker grabbing my first text book of the top shelf. I slammed it shut after making sure I had everything. 'Okay first day...I've got this' I though to myself. I walked into my first class-Math. I took an empty seat at the back by the wall, hoping no one would notice me. They did. They asked me questions which I responded to but I was a stuttering mess. One girl always laughed when I got stuck on some of my words. I brushed it off like I did most everything. They continued to talk not noticing how uncomfortable I was. I brushed my hair out of my face and looked up noticing a girl about my height staring at me. She had brown long brown hair and a grey hoodie with a bunch of music notes on it. She was in a seat by the window. She smiled at me and I looked down and blushed. I looked back up and she wasn't there anymore. I quickly scanned the room looking for the pretty stranger, I couldn't find her. I felt a tap on my shoulder. I spun around quickly to see the pretty girl looking at me. She had bright green eyes long dark eyelashes, rosy cheeks, she smiled at me and I felt my heart melt. "Hi!" She said cheerfully. "Uh-uh-uh I-i uh hi?" The same girl laughed at me stuttering. I see she's shorter than me now. She was wearing black skinny jeans and classic back and white high tops. I. Her hand was 'The Hobbit' by 'J R R TOLKEN. I smiled at the book it was one of my favorites. Sticking out of it was a blue bookmark that had a 'Harry Potter' logo on it with quotes and doodles clearly made by her. I remember the bookmark, the same bookmark I asked we about the first day. A bookmark that sparked so much imagination in this girl. A bookmark that caused me to fall in love with her. A bookmark that lead to me having a beautiful wife and our own house with two dogs. Mark and Bilbo. I shook my head and laughed about the thought when she brought the puppy's home without me knowing. It had been 6 years. The photo of us in matching jackets...was 10 years ago. Wow time goes fast. "Honey?" "Yes love?" "Where are youuuu?" "I'm the the attic." "Haha okay." I heard the sound of her footsteps and then the creak of the stairs. There she was. My best friend 10 years ago. My wife now. My beautiful beautiful girl. I continued through the book until I came upon the book...the book that started everything. 'The Hobbit' and there it was the bookmark. I smile at my messy handwriting on the back. Where I wrote her a note asking her out. This is the note that cause my wonderful life . "Hello darling." "Hello, what do you have?" She asked. "Do you remember this?" "OH MY GO IS THA?" "Yes." She smiled wide. She sat down on my lap and kissed my lips softly. "I love you Sarah." I said "I love you too Maxxie."
