Zayn's Point Of View

When the play ended, I was in tears just as Lindsay predicted. And when I glanced at everyone else, they were crying too. Harry was sobbing and wipping his cheeks with Niall's jacket. The lights came back on and the audience burst into cries and applause. I clapped as loud as I could, and Lindsay stood up while doing so. After pulling our coats on, we rushed towards the exit where a car would be waiting for us. If fans had discovered where we were, we would never get out of here.

Once settled into the car, we began discussing the play and how amazing it was. I was too lost in my own thought about Lindsay though. I had tuned into her interview she had this morning, and I felt sorry for her. Even though we were famous, and I understood what she was going through most of the time, I felt like she had it worst. Our fans were crazy whenever we were with girls, assuming that we were dating. The hate for Lindsay would be never ending just because of our past.

A pang of guilt hit me as I wondered about her fiancee. I would have no clue what I would do if there were rumors about my girlfriend seeing someone else. Who would you believe? So many different sources and stories. He must love her a lot if he's stayed with her through thick and thin. I remember seeing a picture of the two together on her desk when we went in to talk about the photo shoot. He looked vaguely familar but I couldn't put a name on him.

"Zayn, what did you think of it?"  I looked away from the window and saw Lindsay staring at me with wide and curious eyes.

I folded my hands in my lap and smiled,"It was amazing. I want to go see it again."

She leaned back in her seat, crossing her arms with a smrik plastered on her face as if she was saying 'I told you so.' And she had. I wasn't complaining that she was right for once.

My phone buzzed in my pocket and when I took it out, I regretted it. Perrie was calling. It's not like I don't love her, but she called every single hour to make sure I was doing good things. It's like she didn't trust me. I especially didn't want this call now because I was with my mates and Lindsay.

"Hello?" The boys were too lost in their own conversation that they didn't hear me answer the phone. Which was nice, 'cause I hated when people listened to my phone calls.

"Zayn! Where are you right now?"

I sighed back into the seat and closed me eyes,"I'm in a car, Perrie."

"With who?"

I turned my head to the side, avoiding a stare from Lindsay which I had caught,"With the boys and Lindsay. We went to a theatre to watch a play and we're heading abck to our hotel now."

"Why do you always seem to be with Lindsay? I don't like her." Perrie's voice had some edge to it, and I suspected she would go off on me any minute now for hanging out with her.

"Perrie," I whispered into the phone,"Lindsay is a good friend of mine. I know you don't like her, but I do okay? You've been telling me all week how much you don't like her, and I'm sick of it. I hate when you talk bad about my friends."

"Don't get sassy with me, okay? You talk bad about my friends all the time!" Her vocie was pleading; she was dying to win this arguement.

My left hand formed a fist as it laid on my knee,"I never talk bad about your friends. I don't like some of them, but I never tell you any of that. Lindsay is a great person, so stop all of this non sense."

She huffed into the phone,"See? You always defend her. Honestly, Zayn. Who is your girlfriend here? She left you and you're forgiving her for breaking her heart. What kind of friend is she rea-"

That's all I heard because I hung up. I wasn't in the mood to deal with her right now. I was tired, and I was definitely going to hear about it tomorrow morning, but for now I let it slip my mind.

Lindsay tapped my arm and I looked over at her. The boys were still paying no attention to what was going on around them.

"You okay?"

Shrugging my shoulders, I leaned my head back against the seat,"Drama with Perrie."

Her eyes widenedas she caught onto what was going on. She didn't ask any more questions after that. That was one of the things I liked about Lindsay. She didn't pester me until I gave her an answer. She let it be, and she let me decide when I should tell her. Why couldn't Perrie do that?

Speaking of her, my phone buzzed in my hand again and a text message popped up from Perrie.

What the hell Zayn? You're a little more mature than that aren't you? Go ahead and hang up on me like that'll solve all of your problems. We'll talk about this tomorrow.

I probably didn't make it better by just sending the letter 'K' to her, but at this point I really didn't care. Our relationship had been getting weaker and weaker, and I was really surprised it hadn't ended a while ago. Well, I knew why it hadn't.

Perrie and I needed each other. If you asked us, we would never admit that, but we did. We both depend on each other to support one another, and I'm grateful that Perrie is always there for me whatever I do. But it seems for this one photo shoot, that Lindsay happens to be managing, she flips.

Perrie should know that I love her, not Lindsay. She even told me, right after I told her that Lindsay was in charge of the shoot, that she didn't want me to start having feelings for her. She wanted me to keep a far distance away from Lindsay. And that's what I did at the beginning. But that obviously wasn't working for either of us, so I 'disobeyed' Perrie, as she would say.

"So are we heading back to the hotels or are we doing something else?"

I jumped a little in my seat when Niall practically yelled in my ear. I glared back at him and he crouched down behind me, looking really apologetic.

Lindsay clapped her hands together,"Oh! I know this great restaurant down on Fifth avenue. The best food ever. We should go there, my treat!"

Harry interjected next,"No, no. You're the lady, we should pay. My treat."

Lindsay turned as much as she could in her seat and looked back at Harry,"You guys are the guests. I've been living here for two years, you haven't. Therefor, my treat."

Harry was finally smart enough to stop there and just let her pay. Lindsay leaned up and told the driver the directions and the name to the place, before she got cozy in her seat once more.

"Is this place expensive?" I found myself asking her.

She stuck out her bottom lip while she thought before answering,"Sometimes. It depends what you get. But you guys can choose anything you want. Trust me, their food is to die for."

And with that, we all waited patiently, listening to the radio, to arrive to the restaurant.
