Ok, sooo not the first time I've ever seen a wounded or mortally wounded demigod. In fact, quite the opposite, majority of the demigods that come to my house are mortally wounded. Ian found me when he was freezing in the cold hard rain, in the middle of the night in the middle on a campground about ten miles from the nearest house. That was just number one. When my dad and I found Riley his breathing was so soft you could barely see it, along with the forty lashings from Rome he was not in the best of condition. Audrey and Jack found my house out of sheer luck (which I highly doubt) when their poison was acting up and neither were really in any kind of shape to be out moving.
But seeing Christine was a different matter, never have I ever had a demigod come into my care, then get hurt beyond comparison.
"We need Will, there is no way that I'm going to be able to do this," Jack muttered trying as best he could to close the open wound. Audrey, Ian and Riley had just left leaving Jack my dad and I on our own to deal with Christine.
"Jack, Will is in New York there is no way we could get her to New York." I pointed out.
"But you could bring him here." My dad said calmly from the other side of the room. I breathed quietly, the thought had already crossed my mind but I had wanted to see what everyone one else though.
"I could bring him here; Jack can you call him?" I asked, "I'm not going to be able to keep this door open long." He nodded and less than a minute later confirmed that his brother was ready.
Remember earlier how I said that I could create a pathway home? Well home is in part where your family is and sense Jack is family that makes Will, by default, part of my family as well. I know, far stretch but I've done it before and am about to do it again.
Closing my eyes, I opened the door feeling energy leak out of me from all parts as I peeled the door open. Thankfully Will wasn't a stranger to this and jumped through right away. Instantly moving to Christine's side, as I slammed the door shut.
Closing my eyes, I struggled to regain myself after such a long leap with such a small connection. It felt kinda like I had been up till like three in the morning with friends doing incredibly unproductive activities only to wake up the next morning to go hike twenty miles. But at this point there was no way I was going to fall asleep. The Solace twins were polar opposites of each other, Will having his dad's ability to heal, and Jack having everything else. But in looks they were the exact same, both about six feet tall, with blonde hair and the same sky blue eyes.
"She lost quite a bit of blood," Will muttered opening his bag, he quickly got to work.
"Jack do you mind texting Audrey and letting her know to come back to Christine's house and not go to our?" I asked and he nodded pulling out his phone and texting her.
"Texted all three of them, just in case Butterfly doesn't hear her own phone." He said. Ok so Audrey had gotten much better about picking up her monster proof phone, but we still joked about her inability to respond to a text message.
"How is she Will?" I asked sitting down next to Christine's limp body. Will hands were magic, literally. His fingers were moving around the wound decreasing the size and severity as he went.
"She is going to be fine," he said pulling his hands away and going for his bag of medical equipment. Bandages and other equipment came out to help wrap the wound. "Now all she needs is to rest, she is going to come to when she comes to." He said simply pulling away.
That's when he seemed to notice that his brother had been strangely quiet in the midst of everything, sitting on the couch with his head in his hands, his fingers rubbing his temples. "You OK Jack?" Will asked, in complete healer mode.
Jack nodded but everything about his posture said otherwise. My phone dinged.
Audrey's poison acting up, and she didn't tell us. Thankfully we have Ian, so we should be fine over here. I just want to let you know so that you can warn Jack and Will.
Riley
Riley's perfect grammar in situations like this amazed me.
"Will, you may want to see this," I told him handing him my phone. His eyes scanned over the text quickly.
"I should have expected this much, I don't think you and I have ever met without your poison acting up. So we had learned that Will did not set off Audrey and Jack's poison, but it seemed to be that whenever Jack went up to see Will in New York he always ended up staying a few days longer than expected to recover.
"Will seriously, worry about Christine, I'll be fine." Jack pleaded desperately with his brother, as blood started leaking through the wound on his back. Will looked at him with a confused amazement.
"Umm... NO," was his brother's response, as he began pulling out various medical supplies. Jack finally gave up resisting, letting his brother do his job.
The exhaustion from my doorway grew, and eventually I fell asleep in the chair.
I guess I must have slept through the rest of the day and through that night, because I woke up twenty-four hours later. Christine still sound asleep, though blood hadn't bled through the bandage and it seemed as if she was doing better. Will was sound asleep on the floor, with was in all honestly a good thing because Will was known for exhausting himself to the max taking care of a patient (especially when the patient was his brother). Jack was asleep on the couch, blood had seeped through the bandage on his back and onto the couch and he was as pale as a ghost, and it took everything in me to remind myself that he was like this every time I had seen with his poison up and going. And that he had gotten better every time. I was just glad Audrey wasn't here to see him like this.
Quietly I went to the kitchen to start preparing breakfast, figuring someone would get up and be hungry in the near future.
As I was finishing getting breakfast ready Will woke up.
"Would you like to join me?" I asked teasingly, putting a plate in front of him.
"In a few, first I need to check on those two." He said nodded to the kids, sorry, teenagers in the other room. Riley had informed me about the monster attack the night before. Grabbing his bag, he checked on Christine, adjusting her bandage and checking her vitals, nodding to himself as he did so. Then he moved to his brother checking him a little more worry in his eyes as he scanned the paler boy over. It was clear he didn't like Jack's position any more than I did. Finally, he shook his head and came over to join me for breakfast.
"How are they?" I asked.
"Doing well, Christine should wake up today, and Jack... Well we just have to wait for our dad to get out of range so I can give him the antidote and get him back on his feet." I nodded as he relayed the information to me.
"Apollo is pretty close to out of range now, in a few hours max you should be able to give him the antidote." I told him and he smiled gratefully. Soon after my dad woke up, walking into the kitchen.
"You two may want to go in there. Will it looks like your patient is waking up."
