Kaden
"I'm doing this alone." The silence that covered the room the next morning was almost painful.
"Kaden," Riley reasoning voice started and I had to force myself not to listen.
"Riley."
"Not to be offensive but that is the stupidest thing I can think of you doing right now." Riley finished.
"If I don't do it he will have no reason to trust me." I said, and confusion clouded Jack's, Riley's, and my dad's faces.
"Why not? I mean you did save him from death by hypothermia," Jack pointed out reasonable.
"Riley thought of Rome as family." My answers where short and to the point, plain and simple; I was terrified, but I knew that the only way to fix what I had done was to go alone.
As the words left my mouth Riley shook his head, "no, Kaden, no, this is a very different situation. Rome planned to have me killed. You did not plan to kill Ian." But even as the words left Riley's mouth I saw that I had won the argument.
"Yall I have to do this, besides there isn't much I can do to help find Audrey and Christine at this point. And if you need more evidence, we need people guarding the house while we don't have our PvZ war raging." I pointed out. "The fact is at this point in the game I'm expendable."
"I don't like this." Jack muttered shaking his head.
"You know that she's right." A voice from the fireplace stated as a woman, my mom, walked into the room. She walked into the room kissing my dad as she did so.
"The underworld? Hestia please, tell her it's a bad idea." My dad pleaded.
"Mom?"
"You're going to go." She said looking around at us, "alone". Then she took my arm, leading towards the fireplace where we could talk in private.
"I have a couple things I have to tell you before I go." She said sitting down and indicating me to follow her example. "One, it occurs to me that I never gave you a magical item like most demigod's parents give them- "
"Of course you did we have the house!" I exclaimed.
"We, not you." My mother smiled.
"Same difference."
"Well either way, this is for you." She said removing a book from the fire place (I will not go into the logistics on how impossible that is). "The pages were made from the Grove of Dodona, they contain wisdom, all you have to do is ask." She explained.
"It doesn't talk does it?" I asked, the last time that something was made from the Grove of Dodona (Bow of the Argo) it had talked to the explorers, personally I am not a fan of talking inanimate objects.
My mom laughed in response, "no not talk just answers what you ask for."
"Thanks."
"Of course, now my time is up, but hurry there and hurry back." Where her last words as she faded away with only a few flickers of a flame where she was sitting moments before.
"You ready to go?" My dad asked, a few hours later. I nodded, we were in down town where the remains of the labyrinth stood hopefully between my book, my sword, and my magic I could make it down to the underworld. From there the plan was to find Ian and see if there was any possible way that Hades would let him return to the land of the living.
