Kaden

This was stupid, so much so that it felt like one of those video games quests that everyone hates. You know those Billy needs to find Milly, help Billy find Milly. Never did I think I would be going that quest, in real life, helping the godified version of death find his brother.

In theory, Hades could have given me a much worse quest. He could have ordered me to find something in Tartarus, or forced me to trade places with Ian, a soul for a soul. But nope instead I am helping Thanatos, the god of the dead, help find is brother Eros, the god of love, in New York City.

"I have become your charge now Mortal." Thanatos informed me, his voice booming across the underworld. I looked over the god of dead with some difficulty. He was about eight feet tall with a thirty-two-foot wingspan (just estimating could be larger) with black hair and dark eyes that looked straight into your soul. But in this case that was not a metaphor, he could truly see into the depths of my soul, and honestly, that kinda scared me.

But now, despite everything, me was my charge.

"Thanatos you're not going to make it through the mortal world looking like that." Hades said helping me out, amazingly.

"Oh, right." Thanatos agreed, then unnervingly changed shape, turning into a sixteen-year-old emo. Complete with the black hair pale skin and black clothing.

Persephone removed plane tickets from a hidden pocket in her dress, handing them to me.

"These will get you to New York and you back from New York." She explained.

"Thank you." I said, sizing up my 'charge'. My gamer instincts and all I could think was:

Quest Accepted: Love and Death

"Come on." I told Thanatos, moving to leave the world of the dead.

Ok so I'm pretty sure the exit from the Underworld is should to be in New York, but that would have just been way to convenient. Nope we popped in the smack middle of Houston Texas.

Now I live in Houston, I love Houston. But I have spent a lifetime cleaning monsters out of my home turf in order to create a safe haven for demigods. This is not my home turf (what do you expect in a city of 3-4 million people?). I am officially in the most monster populated city in the United States, not fun. Especially running around with the god of DEATH.

"Where are we going demigod?" Thanatos questioned as I pulled my phone out of my pocket.

"Anna?" I asked hoping that the girl answered her phone.

"Kaden? Are you alright?" she asked. Anna was a few years older than me, with her driver's license. Her mom lived downtown so she was my best bet.

"Anna hey, crazy question could you drive my friend and I to the airport?" I asked, and she sighed. Anna was the daughter of Demeter and had saved my life down here when I was younger.

"Sure."

Thanatos asked more questions as we got in the car but finally was quiet. Anna didn't question it, I was known for doing some crazy things and I normally explained what was happening after the fact.

For now, I could close my eyes and focus on the mission ahead. I had the suspicion that once I made it to New York it wouldn't be hard to find Eros, the brothers connection would find him for me.

Eros, I wasn't sure what to make of the facts. From the myths appears to be decent; goes to lengths to protect the girl he loves, tries his hardest to make sure she succeeds, and a whole lot of other stuff. You also learn that he is easily offended; case and point, Apollo and the Bow. Honestly I wasn't really scared of him. Until I heard a much more recent account of him.
