Chapter 6: Planning For the Future

It hurt me to see the anguish in my lover's expression. I'm not sure if its just due to the fact that he just woke up or if he's depressed. I took him back to his house. Namie was there to take care of him. As much as I want to be with him, I have a situation to deal with. I think back to last night.

~Flashback~

"Shizuo, come with me for just a minute," Shinra motioned.

I looked at Izaya. "Just hang on Izaya. I'll be right back."

He nods and I follow my friend into the hallway and into another room.

"Shinra, what are we supposed to do?" Desperation left my mouth. "He can't even get back into some sort of routine."

"I know," he told me. "He won't be able to do his job, hobbies, read, write, or even walk without relearning everything or having help."

"That doesn't help, Shinra." I didn't even know how to feel. I was happy that I had Izaya again, but I also shared his dejection and pain.

"I know. That's not what I was going to tell you, though...well at least not all of it." He paused and waited for some sort of response. I nodded for him to continue. "I ran tests while waiting for you to get here and his vision may come back with time."

"Really." That was great news for both me and Izaya.

"Don't get your hopes up," he interrupted my rejoicing. "There's only a small chance, probably about 25%. I don't want you to tell Izaya. If he doesn't get his vision back, he'll be even more depressed knowing there was even a slight chance. You just need to be there for him and stay by his side."

I nodded. "Thank you for telling me."

He nodded back and we went back into the room.

After that, I had taken Izaya home for the night.

~End Flashback~

I sigh. I'm still not sure on what I'm supposed to do. I want to be by Izaya's side and make sure he doesn't get into trouble; especially with his relationship with Namie. On the other hand, I'm not sure what to do with Iskra. She can probably take care of herself, but I promised Varona to look after her until should could find another house.

Iskra sits down beside me. "What's the matter, Shizuo?"

"Nothing. I'm just thinking about stuff."

"Your boyfriend?"

"Well, yeah, but not just him. I was thinking about how I should move in with him to take care of him, but I can't do that." Another sigh escapes my lips.

"Why not?" She tilts her head to the side.

"Well you need to stay here. I can't just kick you to the curb."

"Maybe Varona could house sit while you stay with your boyfriend. Unless you wanted to sell it, but she might want to buy it, if that's the case. I'll call her right now."

I think about it. "Well, I mean, if that's what you want to do. You two could just watch over it, but if you like it, I'd sell it to you. Although, I'm still not sure if Izaya wants me to be with him since he's so stubborn."

She nods. "I'll ask my sister then."

She dials Varona's phone number and puts her ear to the phone. After a couple seconds, she begins talking in a foreign language, probably Russian.

She keeps the conversation short and when she's done she turns to me and nods. "Varona is on board. You should go see your partner now. He'd probably like it anyway. You should also introduce your cat."

I smile at her. "Yeah," then I give a concerned look. "Are you sure you'll be okay here?"

She nods, "I'll be fine."

I search for the cat carrier after getting the 'okay' from Iskra. I pick up Kisa, who instantly squirms upon spotting the carrier. I know she'll meow a lot and hate it, but it's safer this way.

I wave curtly to Iskra and head out the door.

Even though I was just saying yesterday who my chapter were getting longer and better, this is a pretty bad chapter. I would try to make it better, but I'm really tired because I wrote a lot of Fanfiction this week and ended up staying up a lot later than what is ideal for waking up at 6 in the morning.
