Shinra walks in the room and closes the door behind him. "May I talk to you in here...without Izaya?"

I nod and motion for him to sit in the armchair across the bed. Even though I left Izaya alone, I've been eagerly waiting to see him again since I left.

"Thank you, but I'd rather stand," he declines politely.

"I'm not gonna' hurt you. You don't need to have an escape route." He doesn't look ready to run, but he does seem slightly uneasy.

"I have some news. I don't really think you'll like either of them." He pauses to gage my reaction, then continues. "Do you want to hear the better news or the worse news first."

"I don't care. The worse?" I'm not sure what to think. He didn't say I'd hate either of them, so I'm not really concerned, but he's acting weird.

"Actually. I don't really know which one's worse. They're about the same. Both result in you taking care of him," he thinks aloud.

"What did you do, Shinra?" I growl. I don't want to be taking care of him. Even though I love him, he gets really annoying at times...a better way to say that is all the time.

"Well, I'll tell you what I think would be the worse news, first." He puts up his hands in defense. "I ran some tests and the chance Izaya will regain his vision has decreased to thirteen percent."

"Why?" I ask. Why did it change so much in only a few days?

"I'm not quite sure. His eyes don't look damaged..." he trails off trying to think of the right words. "Has he been closing his eyes or keeping them open when he tries to get around?"

I think. "I think he's had them open. What difference does it make?"

"I'm not an optometrist. I don't really know. I just know that for some people that can make a difference. Maybe you could take him to see one. I mean, the optometrist will see him."

I need to be careful not to make mistakes like Shinra's in front of Izaya. That'd probably hurt him. "Okay," I say, "What was the other news?"

He gives an awkward laugh and rubs the back of his head. "Now that I think about it, this might actually be the worse news. It's not worse for me, but it'll probably be worse for you."

"Stop stalling. I have enough of Izaya's word manipulation to fill 6 lifetimes. Just get on with it."

"Well," he drags on and gives me a really apologetic glance. "Izaya was being difficult, so I might have accidentally put some tranquilizers in him."

"So he's asleep?"

"No. Not quite. He's just really loopy."

"What!?" That means he's going to bother me even more. "You couldn't have dealt with him being difficult for 10 minutes? Now I'm going to have to deal with him for the rest of the night! It'll be worse than the past few days."

"Well, he'll be happier," he smiles awkwardly. "Also, as an apologetic gift, I'll help you pull a prank on him."

"What's that?" I ask.

"Just watch." He pulls out his phone and searches on it for a few seconds. Once he finds whatever he was looking for, he smiles. "Okay. Follow me."

He opens the door and pushes it open. At the sound of the door, Izaya grabs the arm of the chair and looks over in the general direction.

"Shizu-chan?" Even with just that, I can tell he's been drugged.

Shinra motions for me to be quite. "No, it's just me. But, I got you a present to cheer you up from the fact that you lost your sight."
