Don't expect any fluff and rainbows, y'all.
"[Y/N]? It's me. I don't know if you're still mad at me, but I just wanted to check in to see how you're doing. Call me back whenever you can," the familiar voice in your voicemail said.
It has been four days since you and Levi broke up. Before then, you guys had a steady relationship. The two of you exchanged sarcastic remarks, went on dinner dates, and sometime picked out each other's clothing. As your relationship progresses, everything felt empty—empty as in no feelings were exchanged. You truly loved Levi and have always wished him the best of luck in his job. However, you weren't sure if he loved you back. Phone calls became shorter, dinner dates became silent, and not even an "I love you," ever came out of his lips. You felt stupid for staying with a man who never said that, or even looked at you in the eyes. It felt like as if time has been waiting for you to make the last move: end the relationship.
Once you mentioned that to Levi, he became speechless; a part of him felt empty, but the majority was filled with regrets. You looked at him, trying to be patient for as long as possible, "Well?" Nothing. It came to the point where you left him in the café and went home alone.
It's two in the afternoon. You couldn't decide whether or not if you should respond to his voicemail... and 6 missed calls from him. It was terribly difficult for you to sink in the fact that he had the nerve to finally say something to you that he wouldn't say in person. You sighed and gave in. Might as well hear what he has to say, right?
Ring, ring...
"Hello?"
"[Y/N]?"
"Hey," you paused, "I got your call. Is everything okay?"
"No, actually," Levi bluntly said, "I just wanted to apologize and set a proper closure."
On your end, you lifted your brows in confusion, "What proper closure? You've been shutting me out when we were together this whole time. That's already closure."
He sighed on his end, "I'm sorry—I'm sorry for being the absolute terrible significant other in the world. I don't think it'll be easy to make it up to you, huh?"
Pissed, you responded with, "I don't think it was easy for you to put in any effort into our past relationship."
"You're right," he cleared his throat, "I'm sorry for wasting your time, [Y/N]."
You couldn't believe what he just said, "Are you actually apologizing for real?"
"Yeah. I regret not giving you anything back and I still feel awful... I hated myself for that, you know?"
"Been there, done that."
"I still wonder, [Y/N]," Levi sighed, "what drew you to being interested in me?"
"You were mysterious, that's all. I also admired your dedication to your job and saving humanity... You rarely find those kind of people here," you faked a chuckle.
"Ah, I see."
"How about you, Levi?" You tested him, "What made you to take me out on those dinner dates?"
"Your uniqueness, definitely. You stood out, too, you know?"
"Right," you nodded.
"Look, [Y/N], we should just end this here. This is hard for me to process."
"O-okay..?"
"Good bye, [Y/N]."
"Bye..."
And thus, you were the first to hang up. So much of a "proper closure," huh?
You leaned your back against the door and slowly dragged yourself down to sit on the floor. You thought that call felt awkward. Though, you had so many questions to ask him like "Were you happy with me?" and "What do you think drew us part?" You guessed those questions were better off not coming out of your mouth because who knows what would happen from there?
Here you are, sitting on the floor all alone. You're waiting for the day you'll be 100% officially over Levi.
