[Disclaimer : this scenario may not be applicable to all people and all places. It is just a bit of the wild battle that is taking in place in my mind. It need not necessarily apply to anyone.]
The society is an inevitable part of our everyday life.
Society
(Noun)
is a group of people involved in persistent social interaction, or a large social group sharing the same geographical or social territory, typically subject to the same political authority and dominant cultural expectations.
Have the same dominant cultural expectation. What?
Isn't society a mixture of all types of people with all types of personalities, passions, interests , hobbies, etc?
So how can they expect similar things from an individual who is a part of the society?
That , doesn't quite make sense to me.
If everyone in the society, itself, is similar yet so different from each other, then how can they expect one individual to have similar likes , passions, hobbies and mostly importantly career priorities?
As a teenager I have reached that phase in my life where I have to decide what I would want to do with my life. I have to choose a career. Somehow this “society” that I am supposedly a part of , who I don't even know fully, is weighing on my decision of career.
Is it a day where unknown people would decide my future? Where did all our advancing thoughts and open mindedness go to? Where did all the equality and freedom go to?
Suddenly I have to think about a society, whom I don't really know. I need to think what they will think if I choose a particular job. It is an invisible rule in the society , these days, that if you are not a doctor, engineer or lawyer or any profession that has a fancy degree , then you are of no good.
