Stiles Lightwood AU (Teen Wolf + Shadowhunters) [ FINISHED ]

- Chapter 17 The Kanima -

"What is the-" Before I could finish 'it' jumped down from the ceiling and hissed as it hit the tile floor.

"Run." Derek breathed and I nearly slipped as I ran across the wet tile. Derek was only  a little ahead of me. "What do we do?" I questioned loudly. I could feel sweat dripping down my forehead.

"We have to get Scott safe, and we have to get the hell out of here." Derek told me. The kanima was trailing very close to us, hissing and waving its claws in the air.

I was frantic; looking around and fidgeting in my spot. Derek grabbed my hand and dragged me away and into the small room that contained supplies for the pool.

"We need an action plan." Deek said to me, and I nodded without a second thought. "My plan is, I'll lure it over to the doors and let it chase me outside. You get Scott and follow me. Get Scott to howl so I know that you two made it out." Derek said all in one breath. I quickly took out my stele redrawing the rune of physical strength and speed.

I looked up and Derek was looking back at me. "It will be fine." He reassured and I nodded again feeling scared.

He pushed the door open very abruptly making the kanima's neck snap facing our direction. It growled and ran towards us. Derek ran out trying to get it out the door but the kanima scratched the back of his neck and he fell sideways into the pool.

His arms were flailing as he screamed my name but I couldn't think straight. I didn't know whether to go help Scott first, or Derek. It felt like everything was going in slow motion. I looked to Scott. He was sitting there, the kanima nowhere near him. He was safe, for now at least.

Then, I turned to Derek. His arms began moving less and less, before he took a large breath of air and his head bobbed up and down in the deep end of the pool.

I need to make a decision, and I needed to make it now. Derek or Scott?

"Stiles, go, save Derek!" Scott yelled, I glanced at him and I nodded.

I turned away from Scott filled with a courage that I didn't have before. Without a second thought I jumped into the pool at top speed, swimming as fast as I could towards him. I latched my arms around his waist and stayed in one spot in order to avoid the kanima.

The kanima hissed again and swung its arms above the water trying to reach us, but it did not dare touch the water. 'It can't swim' I thought to myself.

I looked up, the sun was beginning to shine through the windows on the ceiling. I looked up, relieved. We would be saved! The kanima looked up also and began to climb the wall until it reached the top and jumped out the window.

I swam towards the pool wall and grabbed onto it with my free arm. I climbed out and pulled Derek out after me. I sighed in relief - but what just happened I did not want to remember.

Just as I was celebrating our little victory the pool doors burst open to reveal Jace, Alec and Isabelle. I was so happy to see them. Whether they were my real family or not.

Isabelle ran over and helped me stand up.  She embraced me tightly and began to stroke my head. "Stiles, I didn't think I would see you again." She said and looked towards me with a sad smile on her face. "Ah, you're really wet." She laughed, letting go of me.

Next it was Jace, without saying a word he pulled me into a hug. It lasted about 10 seconds, then  we let go of each other. "Thank the angels, you're okay." He said, I thought I saw a tear in his eye but before I could know for sure he turned away.

Alec ran over to me."Stiles forgive me I'm so sorry, Magnus and I we didn't know where-" He started but I interrupted him.

"It's okay Alec." I whole-heartedly acknowledged. "That was a hard time we overcame then, we just have to move past it." I said, and we hugged. I was surprised, Alec usually didn't do hugs.

Derek suddenly nudged me in the leg and I looked down at him. "Um, paralyzed werewolf down here." He grimaced and I got Jace to lug him through the door and back to the institute. I pulled Scott throughout.

I was so glad that the night was over; but Derek and Scott had a lot of explaining to do.
