- Chapter 25 The Triquetra

"Can I see the photo of the tattoo?" Deaton asked. I took out my phone from my pocket and showed him the photo. He examined it and gave me my phone back. "Well, that is a Triquetra."

"Triquetra?" Scott questioned.

"The triquetra is an ancient Indo-European three-pointed symbol representing three-way unity." He replied.

Derek furrowed his eyebrows. "Three of what? Three flowers, three days, three people?"

"Well, this symbol represents any three-fold. For example, mother-father-child, life-death-rebirth, past-present-future and many more." Deaton explained.

"But, why would the tattoo glow whenever it was close to the supernatural?" I asked.

"Well, this guy Apollo's threefold must have to do with the supernatural." Derek answered and glanced at me.

"I guess so." I shrugged.

I felt my phone vibrate. I took my phone out to see that I am getting a call from an unknown number. "Who is it?" Scott questioned.

"Um, Alec." I lied. " One second." I walked out of the room. I accepted the phone call and put my phone to my ear. "Hello?"

"Hi Stiles." The voice through the phone said, it sounded so familiar. Wait a minute, Oh god.

"Sapphire." I muttered under my breath.

"So, haven't seen you in the institute, where are you?" She said.

"You have been in the institute?" I countered, answering her question by asking another one. Her being at the institute infuriated me.

"Why are you so surprised?" She replied. I could literally hear her smirking.

"Ugh, why are you calling me? Can't you just leave Scott and I alone?" I snarked at her.

"Cause. I'm power-hungry. At least I admitted it. I won't stop until I feel that I have everything that I deserve." She laughed maniacally into the speaker. I don't reply. "Yeah, that's right. Don't answer. You're not gonna be able to answer soon, and you know what I mean by that."

"Shut up." I said. "You aren't going to find me. You aren't going to kill me."

"Have to call you back sweetie, something came up, oh and by the way, I'm coming after you." She giggled, before I could answer her she hung up.

I put my phone away and walked back to where the other's were. Derek gave me this odd look, like he knew who I was talking to.

"Scott, I can't stay at your place. It's not safe if Sapphire knows where I am. Not for me, not for you, not for your mom." I explained. "It's too easy for her. She is going to guess right away if I'm not at the institute I'm at your house."

"Fine." Scott groaned. "You could stay at Derek's loft...?"

"Um, what? No, No way." I responded and shook my head.

"I think you should stay with me Stiles." A voice behind me said.

I turned around. "I'm good Derek, thank you but no thank you."

"Sapphire won't expect you at the loft." Derek replied. I rolled my eyes. "No, I'm not staying with you. Conversation ended."

"Please Stiles..." Scott begged.

"Ugh, fine." I mumbled. Scott smiled. "I hate you werewolves."

"I'm gonna go, my mom is going to kill me if I'm here any longer." Scott told us with sincerity. Derek and I nodded and he ran off.

"So..." Derek started and crossed his arms. "Uh, what?" I questioned nervously, even though I didn't even know what I was supposed to be nervous about.

"Alec called right?" He grinned. Oh god, he listened to the phone call with Sapphire.

"Uh, yes?" I snarked quickly, hoping that he wouldn't notice my ominent suspicion and worry.

"You know I can tell when you're lying." I sighed in defeat. "I know, my eyes flicker right? What's my tell?" I interrogated.

"Werewolves know when somebody lies." He replied to a totally different question than I asked. "Okay, seriously, why didn't you tell us before about the phone call with her?"

"I don't want Scott to stress out about all of this, I can deal with Sapphire by myself. Even, we wouldn't be parabatai if I left Scott alone and never been a klutz by bumping into him."

"Well, everything happens for a reason."
