Death. Destruction. The two main things humans are capable of, of course, they don't mean it, but since they evolved to intellectually think and adapt, they've took their toll on what surrounds them.
Century after century they built. Homes, civilizations, communities, as to which they evolved and improved their ways of life. Humans chopped away at the natural beauty that the Earth gifted them with. Rather than cherish the habitats of old, they sought to destroy them for the benefit of their greed.
Forests fell, rivers shrank and the ice continued to retreat and although fully aware humanity stayed true to the path they invested upon. They made Earth unrecognizable, they made her human.
So, after centuries in wait the humans still ceased to deem themselves worthy of the paradise they were first introduced to, so Earth took matters into her own hands.
----------------
You first experienced what you thought were 'natural disasters', you fled for safety from the raging storms and perilous shakes which you thought was part of Earths 'ever changing' climate. You were wrong. It was simply a warning. You continued to make technology far beyond the limits necessary and pollute the air so much you became accustomed to its foul fumes. So Earth fought back.
Acid poured from the sky, mountains became fiery demons and water drowned you out like rats. You cried, screamed, prayed for a safe haven away from what you believed to be hell, but she wasn't finished.
Then disease picked you off like cattle. Whilst some recovered, those who didn't where punished to die in the heat, not to be buried but to rot, like she did when they invaded.
The strongest of you survived, living in hostile conditions, your main aim to keep ahead of whatever earth could throw at you. Some of you turned, killing your own for selfish desires. Some of you stayed hidden, living in areas where nature was yet to repossess. You had hope and what she was about to throw at you next would hopefully destroy what light you still believed in.
Could you hold on to what it means to be human?
Right this was just an idea I wanted to have a go with. The next chapter should be in third person and characters introduced. I'm not sure though? Do you like the ideas or detest it?? Please tell ❤
