Ray
I wake up on the bed and roll over placing my arm over Asha and she grunts. What? I sit up and Petal rolls onto her back. I shake my head, where's Asha? Its late in the day, really late and Asha always wakes me up early. I get up and walk out onto the corridor. One of Ace's crew are leant against the wall opposite our door snoring. I walk past him and get to the end of the corridor where the bathroom is and knock. "Asha? You in there?" There's no reply but I can hear the tap running. "Asha?" The door opens and a girl with red hair walks out. She laughs.
"My names Anna silly."
I shake my head "No. I'm looking for Asha. She came here with me."
The girl shrugs "Asha...that's a weird name. Nope. I'm the only girl except for Lizzie in this building. You must be Ray though." She raises her eyebrows and I nod. "Yeah Ace said you and your pig turned up. How cute."
I frown "I arrived with Asha. She's my girlfriend. The pig belongs to her."
She smiles "No, sorry. We are all briefed on who leaves and enters this building. Last night was you and a pig. Ace would've told us otherwise."
I nod slowly. "Sure. Just me." I walk away from her ignoring her attempts at further conversation. I go back to our room and sit on the bed. I'm not mad. I know that much. Asha is real.
Then why is that girl pretending she isn't?
I look at petal who is glaring at me from where she lies, "Asha saved you. Yeah? You remember her too." Petal sits up, "I'm taking that as a yes. Okay? Asha was here because last night we kissed properly but she was too tired. We were gonna take turns sleeping but I fell asleep by her side instead of staying awake. I knew something about this didn't feel right." Petal is still looking at me blankly. I can't believe I'm talking to a pig.
I stand up and kick one of the chairs. What if she's in trouble? I tap my foot against the floor and sigh. I look at Petal and pat her back "We are getting out of here. And we are finding Asha. I have a feeling this isn't gonna end well." I scratch at the symbol on my arm, its been feeling irritant since I woke and pick up my rucksack, I'm sure hers was leaning next to mine.
I walk into the corridor and one of Ace's pets block my way "where you goin?" I square up to him.
"Out. Is that an issue?"
He nods "Ace don't want you leaving without a guide."
"Well I don't need your protection any more. Tell Ace I appreciate his help but I need to move on."
I shove past him and head through the corridors, albeit I'm just hoping to find the exit, it's a maze in here. The temperature drops slightly and I shiver, I have to be close. I find the door and slip out, heading directly for the church.
When I get in the church I sit down on a pew, I need to find Asha before I go anywhere, let's just hope I can stay on the down low for a while. I hear the church doors open and muffled voices approach, I grab Petal and duck beneath the bench.
The voices get closer and I recognise Ace's amongst them, there is the sound of something being hit and a muffled grunt. I watch as their shoes come into view, and of all things one pair of shoes stand out, brown boots.
They're Asha's.
