Daniel's P.O.V
*24 hours after the events of the last chapter*
I aimed down my Crossbow's sights aiming directly at an approaching walker's skull, pulled the trigger and I watched the bolt fly into his cranium knocking him down instantly on impact. Rico was silent for the most part of the day, but the further we walked into the town,she began to be more talkative, after a long conversation on life how it is, she broke off into an alley way. I waited a few minutes before following her in, I came into the alley way to see her fighting back tears.
"Rico? Are, what's wrong?" I asked her concerned for her tears. She only looked at me and then looked down at a picture of a girl on it with some unknown writing to me. I walked over to her and leaned against a trash can and propped my self up on it sitting on the top of it.
"I'm okay." She said putting the picture in her pocket by then I could tell what the writing was "I Love you my dear sister Kestrel, I looked down at Rico apologetically, "I'm sorry about your sister"
Rico looked up at me tears running down her face. "Daniel?" She asked bout to start a question.
I pulled out my handkerchief and wiped away her tears, "Yeah?" I replied.
"So We haven't known each other long but in this world I think we could make it, just leave everything behind, turn back and get Jaime and we can run off together Daniel, Say you'll be mine?" She asked Leaning close to me. I looked down and looked back over to her and smiled. "Okay." I replied sincerely as I patted the top of her head and walked out of the alley way and slung my Crossbow over my shoulder walking with Rico's hand in mine.
We reached the old group in a three days walk. Once we got there Rico and I found two graves in the dirt the wooden grave marks Read, Elizabeth, and Corielle. I looked down at tossed two roses I had picked on the hike here onto each of the graves. And I proceeded to find Jaime but before I could make a move I looked through the wall we all helped to build. and saw Corben bleeding from the leg and arm. I couldn't do anything I only watched in fear as one of the bounty hunters we ran into days ago, the bounty hunter approaching Corben was the one Kaden identified as Sky when we first had the run in. I heard Both of them say something
Corben: "Well lets get this over with Sky.."
Sky: "I hope this is everything you ever wanted it to be Corben."
The words echoed in my mind as soon as the gun shot went off blowing Corben the the floor with a thud.
I was speechless and lost, I dropped to my knees and blacked out.
