chapter five (dakota)

Dakota
-Day before party-
I grab my bag and run out the door of my apartment. I am late for catching the plane to the U.S. I was supposed to be at Mali's apartment 10 minutes ago. I rush into my über and sit and catch my breath. My suitcase and book bag are securely by my seat and I put my headphones on. I shoot a quick text to Mali telling her I'll be there soon. I get lost in the music. Dirty Little Secret by All American Rejects comes on and i jam out in the back of the car. The driver stops and I give him some cash. I wave and grab my bags and run into the building. I hop in the elevator and press 7. It takes me to her floor and I run to her room. The boys are standing in front of her door. "Hey you All Australian Rejects, why are you standing there?" I ask. "She won't let us in. Knock and yell it's you." Cal says. I roll my eyes and knock on the door. "Hey it's me." I hear running and Mali opens the door. She pulls me in and slams the door. The boys groan from outside. "What so urgent that the boys can't come in." I ask, Mali is pulling me toward her bedroom. "We have to choose outfits for the party duh." She says rolling her eyes. "What time do we even have to be at the airport?" I ask. "In like two hours." She says. "I got up early to chooses outfits." I say unamused. She nods and goes to her closet. She throws me a white dress and nude heels. She looks at me. "Try it on." She says. I roll my eyes and start taking off my cloths. I slip into the dress and put the heels on. "Ok?" I ask. She shakes her head and I change. She takes the dress and puts it in a garment bag along with two other dresses. "Are you going to feed me?" I ask. She rolls her eyes at me. "Of course I am, let the boys in while we finish up." I nod and back out of the room. I run to the door. I unlock it an the boys run in saying thank you to me. We sit at the table and look at each awkwardly. Michael stares at me and I look away looking to Calum. Mali walks out and catches me staring she smiles. She gets cereal out of her cupboard and puts in on the table along with bowls. She grabs spoons and milk and sets them next to it. "Breakfast." She says. I shrug and pour myself a bowl. The boys follow suit. After we finish eating we call an über. We collect our bags and get ready to go. Wen we get to the airport I grab coffee for myself and the others get theirs. We sit and wait for the plane to be ready. We get up as soon as they call it and board. I sit down next to Calum and Michael. This is going to be a long flight.

-Next Day-
We are staying at a really nice hotel. There is a pool and the rooms are gorgeous. Rydel came over and we are getting ready for the party. I let Delly do my makeup and Mali did my hair. I put my dress on and slip into my shoes. Delly and Mali finish up with there makeup and hair and put their dresses on. We hear a knock on the door and I go open it. Mikey is standing there. "Are you ready yet the party starts soon." He says. "Yeah gives us a minute and we'll be right out." I say. He nods and I close the door. Mali and Rydel come out of the bathroom and grab their purses. Mali is wearing a red dress with white heels and Rydel is wearing a black dress with lace sleeves that flare out toward the bottom with black heels. "You guys look amazing." I say. "You look great too." Mali says. "Thanks." I say smiling. We walk out into the hall where the boys are waiting. We all get into an elevator. We fonts the lobby and get in our über. It takes about ten minutes to get to the party. We walk up to the apartment and we knock on the door. A girl with copper colored hair opens it. She hugs Rydel and shakes each of our hands. Mali and Rydel pull her off to the side and we just disperse into the crowd already there. I get a drink and start to dance. Before I know it I have more and more drinks. I'm a little buzzed and I keep dancing. I see Mali walk toward me. I smile and she puts her arm around me. "Go talk to Cal." She whispers to me and walks away. I laugh and stumble away to find him. I find him against a wall drinking a beer. "Hey let's dance." I say grabbing his hand. He nods putting down his beer and following me. We dance and a slow song comes on. Cal pulls me close to him and I lean my head in his shoulder. "I like you." I say to him. I feel him tense up. "You do?" He asks. "Yeah, I think I have for awhile." I says. He pulls me closer. "Your my sisters friend though." He says. "I know." I say. He chuckles. The song is over and I look up at Calum he looks down at me and leans forward. We kiss and I pull him closer to me. "We're drunk, your not even going to remember this." He says. "But if you do I'll take you on a date." He says walking away. The party starts to slow down and people start to fall asleep random places. I lay in the couch and Cal lays next to me. He wraps one arm around me and I fall asleep.
