chapter nine (vanessa)

I wake up with a start. All night I could hear him saying "I like you" what the fuck!

He can't like me, we hate each other. He must've been drunk last night I convince myself.

I get out of bed starting my daily routine. After I shower I get ready for work.

I leave without disturbing anyone who might be in my house, making the five minuet drive to work.

I got morning shift today so I can leave early. I slug through my four hour shift, and am sooo glad once it's over.

When I get home Scar, Dakota, Mali, Rydel and the boys are sitting on the couch.

I silently walk into my room to clean up before I head back out to the seating area.

I inwardly groan as I discover the only open seat in in between Rocky and Ashton. I plop down in between them and try to avoid touching them.

I find out they're watching Law and Order and relax a little to pay attention to the show.

A few minutes later a feel a little tickle on my leg on Ashton's side and look at him.

He looks very into the show so I figure it was just me.

Soon after SVU was off and people started filing out. I say goodnight and head to my room.

While getting my keys and my phone out of my pockets I find a paper. I open it.

Dear Vanessa,

I really like you and was wondering if you would like to go on a date?

This was so cute how could I say no? I've never really had a relationship before but I think it's cool that he asked me. I call the number on the note.

"Hello" says Ashton

"Hey Ashton it's Vanessa" I say into the phone.

"Oh hey Vanessa, so--um what'cha say? Will you go on a date with me?"

"Yes" I say "when"

"When are you free"

"I don't work tomorrow" I say

"Cool I'll pick you up around 5:30." He says and we hang up.

I fall asleep thinking about my date. I'll have to get Scar to help me get ready.

Rocky POV

I told V that I liked her. I never even realized that I did until that moment. I was so scared to tell her. I know she hates me.

I have no chance, but still, it's nice to have that off my chest. I don't think she believed me.

We walk put of their apartment. And I tune into what Ashton and Ryland are talking about.

"Yeah I slipped it into her pocket." Ashton says "she wont do it, dude she never dates, but if she dose then I'll owe you ten bucks" Ryland says

"Who are you talking about?" Ross asks

"Vanessa," says Ryland " I bet Ashton that he couldn't get her to go out with him."

"Thats just cruel man" i say sounding serious. If they hurt her I swear they'll regret it.

"Chill dude" Ashton says "I actually like her, the bet was just motivation." I give him a warning look but say okay anyway.

They go to their hotel while the rest of us drive home. "Why you gettin' so protective of  V?" He asks "you two got a thing now?"

"No" I say not wanting everyone to know "yo just shouldn't make bets like that." He nods

"I guess you right, they could end up hurting her." He says

"Yeah" I say as we arrive home and head to bed.

In the morning I wake up to a grumpy Ryland "she said yes" he wines

She said yes? Why? I didn't think she liked dating.

I knew my chances were low but now its like a zero percent chance.

It's five o'clock somewhere I think heading to a bar to get waisted af.
