A party was being held in Scotland and Kiara's best friend, Isabella Marshall, had begged her to go. Kiara didn't want to go to, but Isabella wanted to go so badly, that she eventually agreed.
"Come on, Kiara. This'll be fun!" Isabelle pulled Kiara towards the party.
"If you say so." Kiara grumbled.
"Cheer up, Grumpyface." That last part provoked Kiara to smile. Isabelle gasped in mock surprise. "You can smile!"
"I hate you sometimes." Kiara laughed as Isabella and herself entered the building.
"Try and have fun. I'm going to get a drink. If I get drunk, I'll probably be under the table." Isabella headed over to the drinks table. An hour later, Kiara couldn't see Isabella anywhere, so she decided to go look for her. Kiara searched everywhere until she got to the balcony, which was unoccupied. Kiara walked to the edge and placed her hands on the rail, but quickly yanked them back. The rail was covered in ice, but it was boiling hot.
"What the hell?" Kiara whispered. Ignoring it, she returned to the party.
"There you are!" Isabella ran up to Kiara. "Where have you been?"
"Looking for you." Kiara replied.
"Are you alright?"
"Yes, why?"
"Oh, it's nothing. You're hands are just glowing green." Isabella shrugged casually.
"What? They're not-" Kiara saw that her hands were, in fact, green. There were over one thousand people at the party and they were all staring at Kiara.
"She's a freak!" Someone yelled. "A monster!"
"No, I-I-I-I'm not a monster. I don't even know what's happening."
"You guys are all fucked in the head. Kiara's not a monster." Isabella protested. "Don't worry, Kiara. I'll stand with you, even if it kills me." Isabella lost her parents eight years ago and Kiara had taken her under her wing ever since.
"Just stay calm, freak. We're not going to hurt you. Much." The same person told Kiara. The audience started chanting 'monster' over and over again. Kiara clamped her hands over her ears to block out the chanting, but they were too loud. Kiara screamed loudly as a small, but powerful blast of energy burst from Kiara, spreading in all directions. After the energy disappeared, the only person who survived was Kiara. Heartbroken, Kiara dropped to her knees, next to Isabella. Kiara hugged her best friend's body to her chest, sobbing silently. Shortly after, S.H.I.E.L.D. arrived. Agent Coulson walked over to Kiara. Being a huge Captain America fan, Phil recognised her as the sister of Captain America's best friend.
"You need to come with us, Kiara Barnes." Phil said, placing a hand on Kiara's shoulder.
"Okay." Kiara sniffled. Phil helped her up and led Kiara to the Quinjet, where they silently flew to S.H.I.E.L.D headquarters, leaving Isabella and everyone else behind.Kiara's POV
I woke with a pounding headache and a sore left arm in a dark room. A bright light turned on and a door opened, Bucky walking in.
"Glad to see you're awake. You've been asleep for two days." He said.
"Why did you bring me here?" I asked angrily.
"Kiara, please listen to me." Bucky answered. "I brought you to keep you safe."
"Safe?" I repeated. "You think bringing me here is keeping me safe? No, you're only putting everyone in danger.
"Why do you have to be so stubborn?"
"Runs in the family. You don't get it, do you? I ran away to protect everyone. That's why I killed those people. They threatened me, I lost control and killed everyone. Including my best friend, Isabella Marshall. I won't be responsible for the death of anyone else." I shook my head. Bucky walked over and sat down next to me.
"I know." He sighed. "But you're my sister. It's my job to protect you."
"Then why did you bring me here?"
"I couldn't just let them kill you."~Kiara-Barnes
