School started. The first few lectures went away quickly. The lecture before the break seemed to take hours.

I had texted everyone to meet me in the basketball court during break. I was sure that all of them would come.

Fifteen minutes to break.
Ten minutes.
Seven minutes.
Five minutes.
Two minutes.
The bell rung.

The teacher was saying something but I couldn't care less. I rushed out of the class.
I met Claire on my way.

'Hey!'
'Hi,' I said awkwardly eyeing her outfit.

Claire sure knew how to dress. She was wearing denim shorts with a checked white and light brown crop top. Her purplish-black hair was tied up in a pony. Surprisingly, she wasn't wearing her nose ring today.

It's funny how much I detest Claire and yet I am standing here, stating and appreciating her looks.

'What?' Claire asked.
'What what?' I replied mentally cursing myself for staring too much.
'You're staring at me like I'm a voodoo doll or something. Is something wrong with my hair?' her eyes widened as she asked me.

I rolled my eyes.

'No Claire, you're looking fine. So are we gonna go, or what?' I asked.
'Of course we are! Can I take a short washroom break?' Claire asked.

Suddenly, all my feelings of appreciation towards her vanished.

'Yeah, sure. Go ahead. You didn't really need to ask me, you know,' I shrugged.
'Thanks!' Claire squealed.

I felt tempted to roll my eyes again, but controlled myself.

Today's break was gonna be a long one.
