Biology, my foot.

I went to the woods. The same place where they died. Everything was same except for the fact that the area was surrounded by yellow crime-scene tape.

I laughed. I laughed at them. I laughed at their useless popularity. I laughed at their stupid power. I laughed at their evil deeds. I laughed at their successful attempts to destroy Lara, one of the strongest girl I've met. I laughed at everything they had ever done. Finally, I laughed at myself.

That night was not traumatic. That night was the best night of my life.

I looked around me to check that no one had seen me laughing.

I grinned when I saw that there was not a soul around.

Poor Lara. Perfect Lara. My best friend Lara, was gone.
I no longer recognised her. Neither did she. Who could've known her better than me, she asked. I said I didn't know. Did she believe me?

No.

And my attempt to convince her went futile.

As I stood there, lost in my thoughts, a voice spoke behind me.

'Did you know you're trespassing?'

I whipped around and saw a good-looking guy standing there, his hands in his trouser pockets.

'Oh,' I said. 'As a matter of fact, I didn't.'

'Didn't what?'

'Know, I mean,' I said.

'You're Adrianna, aren't you?'

I froze.

The guy smirked. 'Chill. It's just a question.'

However, his tone seemed to be saying, 'I've not accused you. Yet.'

I forced a laugh. 'Of course not.'

'I'm James. But, what are you doing here anyway?'

'N-nothing,' I stuttered, cursing myself.

'Is it?'

A lady emerged behind James.

I had no difficulty recognising her. Her face had been in the papers for a month after Casey's death.

'Detective,' I nodded.

'Adrianna, I assume?' She smiled a genuine smile.

'Yes,' I said. I felt a warm vibe surrounding the Detective.

'I'm Detective Bones, pleased to meet you.'

I shook her hand.

'You knew Emma and Amber didn't you?' she asked.

'I did. We didn't exactly mingle well,' I decided to be truthful just this time.

'Ah! Why were you in the woods?' Bones looked at me.

It was a confusing moment. How the hell did she know that I was in the woods that night?

'I-I wasn't.'

The worst lie possible. But, I did have an alibi.

'Oh, well, I'll have to find out the truth anyway. That's my job, isn't it?' The detective emphasised on the word "truth".

I forced a smile which must have looked like a sneer and said, 'Yes, that's your job.'

'Have a good day, Adrianna. Get back to school, study well, get home, get some rest, do your work and stay safe,' Detective Bones said, almost as if she was challenging me.

Challenge accepted. Let's see how far you run before tripping over your own feet.

James muttered a quick 'bye' and followed Bones out out of the woods.

I sighed of relief as they left.

Both of them were surely intimidating. But I doubted their ability to find out the truth.

The question remained, how the hell did she know that I was in the woods that night?
