Gwen dragged Adrianna's body to the forest. This is where it had begun and this is where it would end.
Adrianna had said everything right. But she had missed out one tiny detail. James was Dave. Dave was James. How he had survived, Gwen didn't know. But she did know one thing; Dave was dead. James had to go too.
Gwen was strong. Sneaking up on Claire hadn't been difficult. It was killing Lara that had been a difficult task. She had to research all the medicines given to patients like Lara. Emma and Casey were similar cases. They were both party freaks. Overdosing their drinks had been a piece of cake. That went for Casey. As for Emma, she had a junior boy mix things in Emma's drink, saying that she would fuck him afterwards.
Gwen knew that this charade was unnecessary but she was enjoying it. Lara had been the sacrificial lamb. Her real anger was directed at the Trïo and Emma. Emma was gone for good, and she could finally breathe now.
They had taken away her Dave. She took their life.
Poor Adrianna came to know too much. If only she'd gone to the police instead. Gwen lived in Mexico for a long time. She'd come to Brookdale broken. She had found her peace of mind at last.
She had one last thing to do.
There was no stopping her now. She called James. He didn't pick up. She left him a message telling him to meet her in the woods. She wanted to tell him something.
Frustrated, Gwen began digging the ground to bury Adrianna.
She was halfway through when she heard the bushes behind her crackle.
'It's James,' she heard Dave's voice. 'You called?'
Gwen had a sinister look on her face as she turned to talk to him. With mud all over her clothes and a dead body beside her, she looked more so.
James stopped midway. 'Gwen?'
'It's Elizabeth. And you, you're not James. You're Dave.'
James seemed queasy. 'Are you alright? And who is that beside you? What did you want to tell me?'
'Oh, your questions. You always did ask too many questions, Dave. Remember when you told me you loved me? What happened to us?' Gwen inched closer to James.
'Gwen, you need help, come with me—'
Elizabeth let out a loud scream and charged at James with the shovel.
A gun shot broke through her awful shout. The cold, night air was now filled with cries of pain. Bones had shot Gwen on her leg, forcing her to fall.
'That,' Bones said, 'should do the trick.'
Rosetta emerged beside Bones. 'Thank you officer, for believing me.'
'There was little not to believe. Your story about Adrianna's confrontation matched Claire's version of the tale. That, and Gwen's missed call made me see everything clearer. We'll need a statement though.' Bones said.
'Oh, and, Gwen, you have the right to remain silent.' Bones added as Gwen screamed swear words in agony.
James sneered at her. 'I'm may have Dave's features, but I'm not him anymore.' He softened. 'I did love you, Gwen. But not this mess you've become. You need help. I'm hoping the jury will realise that. See you at the station.'
And the sound of sirens filled the night sky.
Justice had prevailed.
Detective Bones had succeeded at last.
