This chapter Caroline wants the D and we all know it but her.
I sat down on my bed crisscrossed, watching Girls and eating pizza pockets. After taking the day off I totally forgot that I also have tomorrow off. It's like a lucky bonus. My brother and the whole junior year is taking their PSAT's, or Preliminary Scholastic Aptitude Test, except for Lydia Martin who took it in freshmen year.
Not noticing how late it was, I took having a phone call at three in the morning a normal thing. Seeing Liam's name pop up I stared at it. I quickly answered, hoping that Liam's sweet voice would be on the other end.
"Hey," Liam said and I sighed in relief. "Sorry about earlier, Garrett stole my phone and I saw that he was pretending to be me and," He cut himself off and chuckled, "Yeah, that's all I had to say."
"Yeah it was kind of weird how I thought I was talking to you but I wasn't." I answered, pausing the show to hear him better. "How did Garrett even get your phone? I thought he was missing or something."
Liam was quiet for a few seconds and I checked to make sure we were still on the phone with each other. "He just took it, no big deal."
I pursed my lips, thinking about how easily Liam just shrugged that off. Shouldn't Liam be a little ticked off that his friend, who dated a total psycho, stole his phone even when the police are searching for him? But I did what I do best and shrug it off, trying to play it off cool like he was. "If you say so." We were both quiet for a bit, trying to think of what to say, and a teasing smile grew on my face, "Is that the only reason you called me?"
My brain flashed images of Liam casually shrugging as he answered casually, "I also wanted to see if you were awake. It's three in the morning, you should be asleep."
"What if I was asleep?" I fake yawned against the phone.
"Shit, did I wake you up?" Liam asked, his voice sounding disconnected a bit before returning back to normal. Over the phone, his voice sounded more high pitched than it actually was and it was different, it made me miss him even more.
I giggled as quietly as I could and answered, "No Liam, you're fine. I'm actually glad that you called right now. I'm quite lonely, sitting on my bed and watching shows." I fake pouted, not caring that he couldn't see me.
"Sounds like you want me to come over," Liam murmured and it sounded like he switched his phone to the other ear.
I fake gasped playfully, "What? Me wanting that? Never!" I blushed as I realized I was being quite dramatic, but then I realized if Liam did actually sneak over tonight it would be a perfect opportunity to be with him alone.
He yawned through the phone, "I guess I better go back to bed then, Care."
"Wait a minute, pretty-boy," I interrupted, "If you come over I'll make you some pizza rolls."
"I don't know, I've had a very long day and I could just fall asleep right now."
"I'll give you a back massage!" I jumped then quickly quieted down, "I always give Mason back massages and he says I'm really good. I don't think he'd lie about something like that." Liam was quiet so I kept going, "Please, Liam, just come over."
"Want me to come through a window or front door?"
"Front door please, the walls may be thin but they won't be able to hear the door opening downstairs."
Stuff about to get so intense you're going to call your grandma crying.
