This chapter Caroline can't call her dad when she needs him the most.
I woke up this morning to no new texts from anyone except for Nina. It's unusual getting a text from her, but since I already missed two calls from her, I can only assume her mom typed for her. The brightness from the screen burned my sensitive eyes and I groaned loudly.
From: Nina
Hello Caroline, I would like to invite you to my house tonight. I guess you can call it a going away party.
To: Nina
Sounds good! Is anyone else coming?
Waiting for her to text back for a while, I decided to do my chores to occupy myself. I sent Liam a quick text as I was folding everything that went into my drawers like socks and pants. I looked down at the jeans on my bed that I just folded, then refolded them again. I'm not blessed with the skilled hands of my dad, he always seems to fold so effortlessly. Stiles and I never bother with folding so I'm certain my dad will have a heart attack when he comes home to see I already did it.
From: Nina
I was going to invite Alex and Farrah. Can't wait to see you tonight.
Frowning, I texted her about how Alex and Farrah are known as the official party animals of Beacon Hills. Alex is known as 'daddy's princess', she gets what she wants and always shows it off. If she wants new hair extensions and ten pairs of high heels she'll have them the next day. A lot of people didn't like her, more like everyone envies her lavish lifestyle and her perfectly curled black hair. Compared to Alex, I preferred Farrah's company. Farrah walks around school with her newly dyed lilac hair and with long, cat-like nails. Her family wasn't the wealthiest but lately she's been getting a lot of presents from her dad. Rumors whisper that her dad is cheating on her mother, and that Farrah keeps threatening to tell.
All in all, they weren't the type of people I thought Nina associated with. I've only seen Nina talk to me, Mason, the guidance counselor, and sometimes some kids in our year for a brief minute. She never talks about anyone else to me.
Falling down on my bed, I kicked all of the rumpled clothing off of my bed and sighed heavily. My phone chimed from a text message, and Liam's name flashed on my screen. He asked me what I was doing and if I had plans later. I bit my lip, on one hand I could lie and say I was just going to watch Netflix just like any other night. It seemed illogical though, I have no reason to lie to him. So I texted him that I was going to my friend's house and that she was going to move away soon.

Farrah was meant to pick me up around ten, and here I was waiting by the door. I only had Farrah's number and she was nice enough to offer me a ride. The last time we texted was about an hour ago, and she said she may be a little late because she was going to pick up Alex too.
So I sat waiting, humming to myself as I reapplied lip gloss. I knew that Nina's going away party is going to be low-key and casual. Especially since only two other people are coming.
I saw Farrah's headlights shine through the window and I quickly walked out of the house. Farrah's lilac hair immediately caught my attention and I smiled and waved at her. "Hey," I said enthusiastically, getting inside her truck and buckling up. She turned down her rock music and said hey. her deep voice reminded me of an old smoker.
"You look cute," She complimented me, "I feel like trash next to you. I didn't know we had to dress up." Farrah was wearing black ripped jeans and a cute orange tanktop that had rips on the side of it.
