I sat behind Mitchell in our little airplane thing, whatever jet it was. The whole free world had turned against Irons, he shut himself in New Baghdad, we were flying in to start a shockwave. I held my breath gulping
'What if we fail' I thought as I stared out the window when suddenly our radios went off
"I know what you're thinking Jaelyn, we're going to be fine" Gideon said, I chuckled
"I'm not sure what you're talking about" I replied smiling to myself
"Someone is in love" Mitchell said as I shot the Atlas jets while we flew through the canyon
"Who? Me?" I asked, he nodded
"Yeah" he replied
"With Gideon? You're joking" I said, he chuckled
"Nope" he replied, I rolled my eyes as we turned
"You're an idiot, Mitchell. I don't love Gideon" I said as Jack was in the back of my mind, well more like nowhere in my mind.
"Go right Mitchell!" I screamed as we came to a split.
We came to the end of the canyon and were shot out in pods to the ground. I held onto Mitchell's seat tightly. It was a rough landing as we landed in the middle of the city, I jumped out with Mitchell as Gideon did the same to our right while our warbirds became visible. We jumped to a building before running through to the other side when we met up with Ilona.
"Mitchell with me!" I yelled grappling to the railway in the middle of the streets we were fighting in, I raced towards the first turret we had to destroy. Mitchell and I shot the soldiers around it before I jumped onto it ripping the roof off it and grabbing the person out of it and throwing them off the roof
"Go to the next one!" I yelled at Mitchell, he nodded ran off as more soldiers jumped onto the room. I killed them as Mitchell took care of the other turret. I jumped into this one shooting at the Atlas warbirds, once Mitchell and Ilona took out the next turret, I jumped back down to the ground meeting up with Mitchell. I held my gun tightly as it was chaos. As Mitchell jumped next to me ASTs ran out into the streets
"I'll distract, you kill" Mitchell said running off to my left while I ran off to my right, I hid behind a truck as I waited for the AST in front of us to look at Mitchell. Once it did, I used my grapple to grab the person inside and pull them out. They flew towards me, I grabbed their head slamming them into the ground
"Next one!" Mitchell yelled running past me, I gasped grappling back onto the railway as I got shot at. I quickly did the same thing with the AST following Mitchell. Ilona and Mitchell jumped up next to me
"Last one's up there" Mitchell said
"We'll cover, you get it" Ilona said to me, I nodded as they jumped up on the left and I ran to the right getting up onto the same place they were. They distracted it while shooting the soldiers around it. I aimed my grapple at it before shooting and pulling the person to me. I slammed their face into the ground
"Knox, Jaelyn, grab the stingers while we cover you, drones incoming" Gideon said
"Copy" I replied before jumping down to where two stringers sat. I sprinted over picking mine up as Knox sat next to me and smiled a little
"We've got this" he said, I chuckled as I checked the ammo in the stinger. I looked up as the drones came around the corner but just flew past us and stood in place
"WHAT'S HAPPENING!?" I screamed as Knox looked at me, I looked at him as they exploded some black and green smoke. We fell to the ground when suddenly
"God damn.... He did it! HE FUCKING DID IT!" I heard Knox yell, I turned and saw him on the ground. I rolled over touching his chest as he had black rims around his eyes and blood pouring out of his mouth
"KNOX" I screamed as he looked at me while Ilona, Mitchell and Gideon ran over, I felt my heart sink as my world started to crash down around me. Tears poured down my face as I shook Knox
"Stay with me!" I yelled as he touched my check
"It's Manticore... we've got to pull back!" he yelled as I looked at his eyes that were blood shot. I screamed as he looked at me before going limp. I shakily closed his eyes as the others talked but I couldn't hear them. I looked up
"AST!" I screamed as I stood up suddenly I was shot back into darkness with Irons' voice echoing in my ears. I opened my eyes a little and saw Knox's body before I was hit in the face sending me back to darkness.
