"Launch in 2 minutes" the voice said again as we kicked one door down and went through some weird hallways before coming to the hatch. Gideon went on the left as I grabbed the right and we both started pulling it
"1 minute until launch" we pulled hard until the levers broke. Gideon pulled the hatch up and pointed down. I held my breath before jumping down; I slammed my arms and legs against the walls slowing my descent as my heart pounded into my ears. I landed and stumbled a bit before Gideon landed behind me
"The launch is starting!" Mitchell yelled through the radio. We started heading towards the rocket when it started and fire flew towards us. I gasped as I was pushed back a little but we kept pushing through it. I made it out of the hall we were in onto the pad first and started using every weapon I had on the engines when suddenly it blew up. I collapsed as I heard the AST powering down.
I was in blackness for a minute before I forced my eyes open
"Jaelyn!" Gideon yelled as he came into view, he ejected me from the AST
"We stopped it! We stopped the launch" he said, I smiled when he said something before picking me up, I blacked out as my arm felt like it was on fire.
When I opened my eyes Gideon dropped me on the floor as people shot at us, I grabbed my pistol out helping shot them. I felt really tried and all I wanted to do was sleep as Gideon shot the last one
"Jae?" he asked
"I'm f-fine" I said coughing as he picked me up again.
I heard kingpin as Gideon ran with me on his shoulder, I looked out the window and saw them blowing the city up
"We're going to die" I whispered before he placed me down
"I need you to walk" Gideon said as I saw nothing but darkness.
"I don't know if I can" I whispered as I held onto the door in front of me pushing myself up. Gideon turned the lights on, I gasped moving backwards seeing Irons right at the doors on the other side
"Hello Jaelyn" He said glaring as I moved just behind Gideon
"Don't you fucking move" Gideon hissed putting the gun at the door
"I could ask the same of you" Irons said pushing a button, I gasped as our exos froze and Gideon shot all his ammo out. Irons opened the door walking over to us
"You reply too much on them" he said
"It's over!" Gideon yelled
"What I've started won's end with me, its bigger than me" Irons said, I gulped
"You think I'm a monster? That's only because you don't have the conviction to do what's necessary"
"Necessary? The attack on America? Unleashing Manticore, killing thousands of innocent people!" Gideon yelled, Irons turned to him
"I am saving the world!" Irons said
"You're going to die" I whispered making them both look at me, I glared when the building rumbled and the lights flashed. Irons turned and started running as a tear fell out of my eye.
"Try to hit the release on your exo!" Gideon said
"Why? We're going to die" I whispered as I had lost all hope in getting out alive.
"Jaelyn!" Gideon yelled, I looked at him and saw the sadness and anger in his face so I pulled my arm as hard as I could and managed to touch the release pad on my exo, I moved out and tried Gideon's but it wouldn't budge
"Go!" he yelled, I shook my head
"Get him!" he yelled, I looked at him before sprinting up the stairs Irons went up and through a hall following him. He hit the button to close the doors so I slid down underneath them before pushing myself up as Gideon kept motivating me through the radio. I ran outside when someone jumped from the roof in front of me. I pushed him off the railing before grabbing my knife out, I sprinted and tackled Irons off the side of the building. I screamed in pain as he grabbed my arm while the building started exploding
"Jaelyn! Pull me up! I'm not letting go so pull me up!" He yelled, I smirked as tears fell from my face onto his
"Here's your second chance asshole" I said as I began pulling him up, I held him up as my arm shoke wildly before stabbing my arm making my blood drip into his face. I smirked
"Jaelyn!!" he screamed as I pulled him up ore stabbing his hand making him let go. I stared in shock as he screamed falling in the fire. I was pulled back, I saw Gideon there
"I got you" he whispered picking me up. I lied my head against his shoulder closing my eyes.
