Evangeline sat down. She was outside a dodgy club, and had a phone in her hands. It was kinda funny. She didn't expect to find that becoming a lycanthrope would actually be the best thing that'd ever happen to her. She was away from her controlling parents, but when she got depressed like she was tonight, Owen always came to mind. And then she stared at her phone wondering if she should call. She wondered what his life was like. If he was aware of everything. Maybe the vampire girl wiped his memory or something like that.

She dialled his number.

Usually just before it started ringing, she'd hang up. But not tonight. She called him. She wanted to hear his voice. She wanted to tell him that she was okay. She wanted to know if he was okay. She'd put Thornville in the rear view mirror. But he was the part of it that always made her want to turn back.

It rang, and she sighed, half ready to hang up. She'd have to change numbers again. And there it was. The familiar click of someone picking up the phone.

"Don't hang up." The voice said.

"I won't. Hey, Owen. It's really nice to hear your voice."

"Come back, Evangeline. We miss you. You have a home here, you have friends here."

"It's not going to happen, Owen. I'm okay now, I'm happy. Things are good now."

"Oh."

"I've even become clean. But I miss you like crazy though." She said.

"Maybe we can find a cure." Owen said.

"I don't want a cure."

"Maybe I can come find you."

Evangeline paused for a moment, and bit her lip. "No, you can't."

"So why are you even calling?"

"Because I missed you and it's obviously a mistake."

"No, no... I'm sorry. I.. I just had a really bad week."

"Tell me about it."

"I kinda died."

"I know the feeling. Sometimes life it's just like that, you know? You'll come out better, Owen."

"No, I actually died. I got stabbed."

"Oh. Are you a zombie now?"

"Close, but no cigar. Think more Kristen Stewart and less Shaun of the Dead"

"You're fucking kidding me."

"I thought I could save someone I cared about."

"No, you thought saving this person would make up for not saving Lisa. And you need to fucking stop carrying her around, I told you that she's killing you! I suppose she finally managed to actually do it. Are you okay now? What happened?"

"There was this girl. Her brother is a total psychopath, he ran me through. Daveigh got to too late to save me. Sort of. So I died. Now, I'm, you know. One of them."

"I can't leave you alone for a few months without you getting stabbed."

"But you did anyway."

"That's not fair."

"You just disappeared."

"Owen..."

"Why? Why didn't you come back, or call me back, or just... I didn't know if you were dead or alive... Evangeline."

"I'm sorry, Owen. But... I was scared, and I ran, and suddenly I was in another zip code. And then I got to start my life again. And I'm happy, and okay, and I miss you so much but I'm actually genuinely okay."

"So what now?"

"I don't know."

"Can you forgive me?"

"Depends."

"On?"

"I am going to see you again, right? Evangeline... I don't care if it's twenty years from now. I don't care if it's a hundred. But you can't forget about me. And you can't just never speak to me again. You can leave Thornville, that's okay. But you can't just pretend I never existed. We had something. Even if it was just for a short while. And I'm still your friend. And if you're in trouble I'd come running. I need to know that you'd call me, if things went sour."

"Of course I would, Owen. And I won't forget about you. I'll call you whenever I get the chance. But you have to do me a favour though, Owen."

"Don't die again. I don't have enough friends as it is."
