On August 29th, 2016, I started on a new, fantastic journey: I started college.
I am currently attending the University of La Verne, which is actually in a small town called La Verne. In reality, it's around West Covina, about two hours north of San Diego (since a lot more people know SD than most other places in Southern California). I am currently studying Communications with an emphasis in Journalism, and I aspire to be what I am doing right now: writing my experiences and adventures for the world (that's you, lovelies) to read.
When I first moved into my dorm, I was a little nervous. Not necessarily because I was homesick or scared to transition, but I was hesitant about putting myself out there. College is a WAY different ballpark than high school; there's a lot more to do and much more freedom and flexibility, it was nearly overwhelming at first that I could basically do anything my heart desired. But I knew I didn't wanna do it alone, I wanted friends to venture out with me, but at the same time I was absolutely terrified of trying to mix in with the crowd. Thankfully, the University is tiny compared to other universities, so the people here are stuck with me. Just kidding, I promise I'm fun.
The way my classes are set up the first semester, I have a group of about 20 (awesome) kids in a program called FLEX, where we are placed in masses based on our major or career interests. When I met my flex, FLEX 24: Representation and Reality, I knew that it was going to be the group for me. They're outgoing, definitely sarcastic as hell, very very lively, and just really great. We've all gotten to know each other pretty well, and I think it's so cool that all of us are reaching for such similar dreams. In addition, I met some pretty sweet people at a dance, and since they took me to In N Out, I guess I'll keep them. TOTALLY KIDDING, you know who you are, thank you for dealing with my presence everyday!!!!
All in all, college has been nothing short of everything I've ever dreamed of. This is a huge step into becoming an adult and living my life that I've thought about, imagine, planned, etc. for my entire life. Or the past two years, but whatever. La Verne may be small, but it's been filled with so many adventures, and I love the people, old and new, that are experiencing it with me. I couldn't be any happier; to be honest, it still hasn't hit me that I'm here. I'm waiting to wake up and someone going, "PUNK'D!" Anyways....
I could go on forever and forever, but I'll leave the rest for another time. But for now, La Verne is paradise. I hope they can keep handling me. Peace out for now, and Go Leopards!
