Hello all!
So, with joining the dive team at the University of La Verne, there is a requirement that I spend at least six hours at the Academic Success Center, doing homework and studying and using my time wisely. Well, I didn't have homework this weekend, so I brought a writing book with me. It's an interactive book for writers, titled 300 Writing Prompts, that I picked up at Barnes and Noble in early April as an early birthday for myself (Thank you, Andrew, by the way, I love it). It's pretty self-explanatory, there's different prompts that you respond to in either blurbs or in deep detail, and you can look back at it at a later time to either build on or change your response.
As I was looking through it, I found that a bunch of my responses were the same. Same likes, same dislikes, I can't give up my phone for two weeks because I'd die, and so on and so forth. I turn a page and see a sort of long response on the other side, and it catches my eye. The question states:
Were you born to shine in one special way?
My response, written on June 17th, 2016, was:
Personally, I believe that everyone was born to shine in one special way. For me, besides my individuality, I'm not sure what really makes me stand out. But I know I'll find it someday, and I won't forget that. Ever.
Well, not as deep as I imagined, but I was in an airport at the time so I understand where I was coming from. What's amazing to me, however, is that I think I have the answer. Since that day, as told from various entries before, a lot has gone on and changed my life. New experiences, new adventures, new influences and opportunities have come and gone. So, reading this now, in the middle of a study place as everyone else lives their lives around me, I have a new response to this question. So, Andrew, were you born to shine in one way?
Everyone has a special niche, written in their genetic code, that makes them shine. For myself, well, I believe I was born an advocate. For what reasons, I'm not sure; there's a million of them out there and I'm positive that I will pick more than one. But, this is what I feel like I could do, and that doing what I am doing right now is the best way to express my compassion for a certain cause.
There is a website, Global Goals, that lists and discusses 17 different accomplishments everyone as global community should come together and achieve. I am choosing to support Goals 4 and 5, which fight for quality education and gender rights. Everyone who reads this can go to http://www.globalgoals.org/now/ and read and choose a goal they would like to advocate. Join me, other advocates, and the world to make where we live a better community. It all starts with a single voice creating a boom in society.
Join my voice; let's make ourselves heard.
