Maya Angelou was right when she said that life wasn't a crystal stair.
In fact, life may seem like it's not going right. We're teenagers going through tough times and phases and the world we are surrounded by isn't the most beneficial.
Life has ups and downs. One minute, you could be the happiest person alive. The next minute, you could be collapsing to the floor and uncontrollably sobbing. That's just how life works.
But here's the thing: yes, we remember the bad times, but we remember the good times as well. I can guarantee you that life has more good memories than bad. Focus on those times. The times you have with friends, family, and even with yourself.
Everything that you face in life has a choice, and the decision is always up to you. Surround yourself with the people you want and love, focus on the happy things that bring out the positivity, and cut out the bad that keeps you down. Seriously, it's dead weight, you don't need it.
Tell yourself and the close ones around you to be happy. That it's going to be okay. That the bad is just a phase in life and that you'll soon be happy in no time.
Yes, I understand that it's hard, and nearly impossible on some days. But it's always possible. Breathe, keep your head up, and keep moving forward. Do what makes you happy, and destroy whatever doesn't.
This is your sign and reminder to do what it takes to be the person you want to be. It's a reminder for me too. So get up, take a deep breath, and get the life you want going. There's no turning back.
This is your life. Make the most of it.
