I woke up screaming, my body covered in a coat of sweat. Wait, I only closed my eyes for two fucking minutes. My room was dark except for the stream of light that was pouring through my slightly parted window curtains. Wiping my eyes of the tears that were threating to spill any second, I tried to collect myself. I reached over to the bedside table and checked my cell phone. 3 a.m. What the actual fuck.

“Well at least I got two minutes of sleep. That’s some sort of progress.” I muttered to myself.

A brisk gust of air hit me straight in the face. Um, I know for a fact that there are no windows open in here. The hairs on my arms stood up, and a horrifying chill was sent down my spine. Something told me to look up, and I really wish I didn’t.

At the end of my bed was a shadow. I’ve never seen it before, but I knew what it was. I could no longer hold in the tears that were still in my eyes from when I woke up.

You’re still here I see. A voice that I have never heard before rang through my ears. It sounded just like the others, but more powerful. I wanted to answer it, but I didn’t have the strength.

I thought you were told to end your life. Yet, you are still here. Why is that? I couldn’t tell if it was a male or a female, but I really didn’t care. My whole body was shaking with fear. The figure moved so it was closer to me and no longer at the end of my bed.

You do not belong here Jessica. No one wants you, that's why we put your mother out of her misery. As for your father, he's still the same drunk he always was. You do know that we made him that way. He Is the reason that you can see us. The tears streamed freely down my face now. This is all my father’s fault, I knew it. The shadow reached forward and placed it misty hand on my throat, squeezing tightly. My breathing became uneven as I fought for air. I closed my eyes and prayed to whatever God is above, asking him to help me in any way.

You got lucky this time Jessica. I will be back to finish you off, you'll see. With that, the shadows hand released my neck, causing me to collapse on my bed trying to bring oxygen into my lungs. I watched as the shadow disappeared and my chest returned to its normal breathing pattern.

There was no way that I was going to stay here by myself after that. Who knows what those goddamned voices would make me do. There was only one person I could think of calling...

He picked up on the third ring and boy was I grateful.

"Jess its 3:30 in the morning. What the hell do you want?" I probably should have thought about calling him at this early but I was too scared right now.

"Can you please come over? I'm scared." I sniffled into the speaker of the phone.

"What's wrong? I'm coming over now ok!" Thank the lord.

"Thank you so much Harry. You don't understand how much this means to me" He told me he was on his way and hung up the phone.

A knock on the door pulled me out of bed. I ran to the door knowing that it was Harry. I flung the door open jumped into his arms. Harry's reaction was delayed, but he threw his arms around me and burrowed his face into my neck.

"Thank you for coming this late at night, well morning I guess." I looked at Harry who was in plaid pajama pants and a baggy black jumper. He pulled away and led me back into the flat. I took him toward my room and we laid on the bed.

"Are you going to tell me what the hell happened?" Harry asked me. But I just shook my head in response. He laid his head on one of my pillows and threw his arm around me, pulling me into his chest.

"Well try to get some sleep, you look exhausted babe." I sighed and mumbled under my breath.

"I wish I could."
