By the time I had gotten myself together, dressed in my previously discarded outfit, Ronnie and her brother were already walking out the front door and into the hallway. I followed them, disregarding Kyungsoo's protests and my own reluctance at confrontation with my former best friend. Ronnie's temper used to scare me before, but she wasn't going to have the last word. Not this time.
"Ronnie." She stopped in her tracks and turned around. There were tears crowding her eyes, but the fire was still there, regardless. Baekhyun remained at her side, holding onto his sister's arm for support. I was glad he was there; glad she had someone to lean on, she needed him.
Ronnie chuckled half-heartedly. "I'm on my way to hell. Care to join me?" Sarcasm was her natural defense system; it hid her pain. I wasn't as good at hiding what I felt.
"I—" My voice was already thick with tears. I tried clearing my throat, but it remained the same. "I just want to know why you did it. I didn't do anything with Kyungsoo before, I wasn't even thinking about doing anything. But then I saw you and Chan, and I just—" I could feel myself start to ramble. "Was it because you were drunk? I don't understand wh—"
"He was the drunk one. He was the one who convinced me. He told me that you two were probably fucking, ask him yourself." Ronnie interrupted me. It caught me off guard. I hadn't expected Chanyeol to say something like that. "It was almost like he had wanted to believe you cheated just so he could have an excuse to fuck me. Weird isn't it? He wasn't right before, but I guess he eventually was," she sneered.
"Ronnie, let's just go." Baek tugged at his sister's arm, but she wouldn't budge.
"He called me baby girl—moaned it, if you were wondering. You picked a good one, Morgan, he's much longer than Kyung ever was. And rougher." She laughed, one laced with bitterness. "Too bad you settled for a lesser model. Disappointing, wasn't he?"
Baby girl. He always called me that.
"Fuck you, Ronnie." I choked out, steadying myself on the doorway.
She turned away, once more walking down the hall. Without looking back, she spoke again. "Chanyeol already has."
Once again, she had the last word and I was left with nothing but ruined pride and another wave of shame. I attempted to follow her, to yell something at her back about how I didn't care what they did—a lie, I did care; I cared too much—but a hand pulled me back, preventing me from leaving. It was Kyungsoo, of course. He had his hand wrapped around my wrist, just as he had done to my ankle when I tried to leave earlier. "Wait." He called.
"Fuck, what is it now? Why do you keep latching onto me? I'm not your fucking girlfriend, Kyungsoo. She left five minutes ago."
His jaw tightened and his lips pulled down at the corners. "We obviously aren't together anymore. Come back inside." He took ahold of my fingers and tugged softly, leading me into the apartment and shutting the door behind us. "Don't let her get to you. When she's angry, she'll lash out."
"You don't think I know that?" I shot back. "I deserve to be just as angry as her. I am just as angry as her. She fucked him first. I shouldn't even be over here; I need to leave."
"Stop it." He spoke, his voice firm. "It doesn't matter who did it first, we're just as guilty as they are." He was right. "You're going to have to own up to what you did, same as me and same as Chanyeol and Ronnie." He sighed. "Since it just happened, every feeling and emotion is heightened, so stay clear of her."
"I was already planning on it."
"Alright. How do you think your boyfriend is going to handle knowing?"
