The crowd watched in awe as the four representatives gathered at the dock of the lake.

Soon, they each dove in. Alfred frowned in disappointment. How could they see the event if they were above the water?

---

Fleur was pulled out, and the crowd murmured in confusion. It seemed that she was forced to retire because she was attacked. Alfred, although he knew it was wrong to do so, was happy about that. That meant Hogwarts had a 2/3 chance of winning, if his math was any good.

Nearly an hour had passed, and the first person to surface was Cedric Diggory. Everyone cheered, Hufflepuffs with the most enthusiasm. Fred and George were also screaming at the top of their lungs. He was carrying an unconscious Cho. Ah, so that's what was most important to Cedric. Alfred wondered what would be his most important thing had he been selected by the Goblet.

The next one was Viktor, carrying Hermione. He looked ridiculous, having half of him transfigured as a shark, but he was second nonetheless.

So that meant Harry would be in third place. Alfred yawned, tilting his head backwards to stare at the darkening sky. He met the frightening face of Professor Moody instead.

"Oh, Professor, I didn't know you were standing behind me," Alfred said, slightly unsettled.

"Did you see what Harry used?"

What Harry used? Alfred shrugged. "I don't know; I can't really see anything from here."

"He used Gillyweed. It gives him gills to breath with and webbed feet and hands to swim faster. With that, it should be no problem for him to emerge quickly, wouldn't you agree?"

Alfred nodded slowly. It was strange that Harry would still be down there.

Suddenly, there was movement in the Black Lake. Harry bursted through its surface, gasping. He was carrying not one, but two people. Ron and another girl, presumably the person most precious to Fleur.

It was a nice gesture, but Alfred sighed heavily. He shouldn't have gone after someone else's hostage to rescue. The judges were whispering among each other, Percy Weasley talking more rapid than others. For once, Alfred just might appreciate the prefect.

---

In the end, Harry was boosted up to second place for his morality. Hogwarts was doing very well.

May 24th had approached quickly. Arthur and Ginny went to join Alfred in the seats of the Quidditch pitch.

"What'd they say?" Arthur asked.

"They're doing a maze," Alfred replied. Ginny had a feeling there was something awkward in the air, but she didn't bring it up to question.
