Heartbreak part 2 // Adrien
Adrien felt his back slouch against the wall of his dimly lit bedroom, the memories of today's rejection played over and over in his head. He put his head in his hands as he mumbled incoherent things to himself. Adrien raised his head at the sound of a message coming through and popping up on his computer screen. He glanced at the computer screen and his heart nearly dropped to the cold wood floor, a message from Nino that was titled 'DUDE WHAT DID YOU DO?!'. Adrien sighed deeply as he hurled himself off of the floor and onto his feet. He made his way to his computer, a flash of Marinette's dull eyes crossed in his mine as he felt his face pale and stomach knot. He fell into his computer chair as he gazed at the message. 'DUDE WHAT DID YOU DO?! Alya keeps calling me and saying that Marinette confessed you you totally broke her heart! What the heck man?! Text me an explanation before Alya tries to kill me!' - Nino. Adrien smacked his head against his desk as he let out a moan of frustration. If only he could tell them the explanation as to why he rejected Marinette.
Flashback: 8:02 am / Friday
"Marinette, I don't love you, I'm sorry." Adrien said as he turned his back to her, he couldn't bring himself to look into her dull eyes. 'I love ladybug' Adrien thought to himself, if only he could tell her that. He had always liked Marinette, but as a friend. Besides, She had fallen in love with Adrien, not Chat. Chat was who he really was, she had one fallen in love with a perfect illusion of an ideal son. Adrien had made his way into the school just as rain started to pour down, instead of heading to class he snuck through the empty halls and to one of the empty classrooms. He sat down in one of the uncomfortable seats as he yelled out in annoyance. "ARGHHH!!" Adrien roared as he repeatedly banged his head on the desk, trying to get the horrible image of Marinette's sad face out of his head. Plagg woke up from his rest as he gazed at Adrien in confusion and annoyance. "Why are you making such a ruckus?!" Plagg said in a low tone as Adrien's eyes shot towards his directions. "Because I'm an idiot Plagg! I totally rejected Marinette, my friend! But at the same time I love Ladybug... With all of my heart. Now I've crushed Marinette's heart and I feel like utter crap." Adrien replied in a torn voice, why was it so hard? Now all that Adrien could do was try to forget everything that happened, maybe Ladybug would be able to cheer him up from this dark depressing situation he had gotten himself into.
Present Time:
Adrien typed back his whole situation to Nino, leaving out the Ladybug & Plagg conversation. Adrien decided that he might as well go out as Chat and try to clear his head, maybe there was an akumitized person he could save to take his mind off of Marinette. He transformed and jumped from roof to roof, the rain was beating down on him as he spotted a black and red suited girl standing on a rooftop not far from him. He felt a smile creep onto his face as he made his way to her. Chat smiled as his feet firmly landed on the rooftop, "Hello my la-" He began to say but stopped abruptly as the smile dropped from his face. Ladybug, the girl he loved so dearly, had tears streaming down her face, and the same dull sapphire eyes as Marinette had when he broke her heart.
"I'm done, Chat." Ladybug said as she glanced at his worried emerald eyes. She turned her back to him as she looked out unto the gloomy Paris city. "I'm done being Ladybug. I can't do it anymore." She said as she sighed and squeezed her eyes shut, trying not to let the tears fall from her already puffy eyes. "Ladybug-" chat began to say but Ladybug just shook her head. "I can't Chat. I couldn't even protect my own heart from heartbreak, how can I protect a whole city? I'm not a hero, I'm a fraud..." Ladybug said as she turned to a confused and sad face of Chat. "You where always more of a hero than I was... You never needed a partner. I was just holding you back. Take care of yourself, Chat Noir." Ladybug said as she stepped onto the ledge of the roof. If she stepped off this roof now, Chat would never know who his lady was. He couldn't live knowing he'd never know the girl he fell in love with! "WAIT!" Chat yelled making Ladybug jump as she spun around to see a crying Chat. "You're not a fraud! You are a hero! You can't quit being Ladybug!" Chat said as he stepped towards her. "Chat..." She began but he cut her off. "No! I refuse to let you quit protecting the city... protecting me..." Chat said as he stepped closer to Ladybug. She couldn't move, tears where streaming down her face as she tried to move her legs but she just couldn't. Chat stepped forward once more as he wrapped his arms are her and pulled her stiff body closer to his chest. "You can't quit being a hero, for the city, for your family,... for me." Chat said in a muffled voice as he set his head in the crook of her neck. Ladybug sniffled as she let out a loud cry and flung her arms around him. She squeezed him tightly as she sobbed for her rejection, for her heartbreak, for her partner.
This might be a happy ending for Chat & Ladybug, but will everything be okay for heartbroken Marinettte and guilty Adrien? Or will Adrien's choice to reject Marinette bite Chat in the butt with his love for Ladybug?
