Heartbreak part 3 // Marinette

Marinette groaned loudly as she rolled over on her soft, loft bed. It was Monday again and it was the day Marinette would have to face another day with Adrien since the rejection that left her in complete turmoil. She had spent the rest of her weekend crying and consulting with Alya. Luckily, Alya was coming home from her family vacation today as well. After everything that happened, Marinette was definitely going to need her best friend to get through this deep dark hole of depression she's gotten herself into. Marinette sighed deeply as she unwillingly pulled herself out of her bed, sulking around her room as she grabbed her clothes from the pile of dirty laundry in the corner of her room. "Marinette!! Alya's here!" Marinette's mother called as Marinette slipped her second shoe on before hurling her bedroom door open. At least Alya could help her get through this wretched day. "COMING!" Marinette yelled as she climbed down her ladder too the downstairs bakery where Alya was standing, a forced smile spread across her face. Marinette looked horrible. She had dark circles under her eyes, stray hairs coming out of her uneven pigtails and the amount of crookedness in her entire outfit was unbelievable. Alya stood shocked at her best friend's complexion, Marinette could see Alya's friendly face turned dark, the look on her face said something along the lines of 'I'm gonna strangle Adrien till he repents his sins for what he did to Marinette.' Of course she never would but Marinette knew if she let Alya go on a rampage it might damage her relationship with Nino. Marinette raised herr hand as if saying 'stop'. Marinette looked at Alya sadly as she shook her head. Alya looked down at her feet but nodded in agreement. "Let's go to school, c'mon." Alya said softly as Marinette excited the bakery with her best friend by her side. Maybe Marinette can get over Adrien.

Marinette and Alya walked with arms linked onto the school yard, several kids they knew where all laughing and talking among themselves as Marinette avoided eye contact with them. She did not want to talk to anyone today, she didn't want to pretend she was fine today. Marinette sighed before lifting her gaze from her feet to of course, the person she has been trying to avoid, Adrien Agreste. Marinette locked eyes with him, he too, looked like complete crap. His hair was a mess, he had one shoe untied and the same dark circles under his eyes too. Marinette saw his face drop as she starred into his emerald eyes, the same eyes that she use to look at so adoringly. Despite being only seconds of eye contact, it felt like an eternity. Marinette quickly pulled her gaze from him as she rushed past him, clinging to Alya as she forced her tears back. Alya glanced at Adrien for a moment before completely disappearing into school with Marinette.

Adrien's POV:

Adrien groaned as he starred blankly at his bedroom wall, the thought of having to face Marinette at school today made Adrien's stomach turn in agony. Adrien shuffled around, getting his clothes and throwing them on. He quickly exited his house, trying to avoid his father at all cost. His criticism would only worsen the way he felt. Adrien felt the weight of his guilty conscious on his slumped shoulders as he walked to school. The only hope he had would be that Nino would be able to lighten the mood, or at least cheer him up a little bit. Adrien couldn't help but feel bad for pulling Nino into the mess he had created, after all Nino had a huge crush on Alya.  Adrien sighed deeply as he looked up at the school, he closed his eyes for a moment, breathing out heavily. Adrien opened his eyes, forcing a very convincible smile onto his face as he walked up the school's main steps, waving to his fellow classmates before spotting Nino running up to him. "Hey Adrien! How are you? You look kinda rough, dude." Nino said but with a more low tone, as if really asking how he was. Nino was the only one who knew what was going on with him and Marinette. Adrien looked at Nino sadly but smiled, "I could be better, I just want to try and get through this day alive, maybe talk with Mari-" Adrien began to say before turning his gaze to the familiar figure that was Marinette. His eyes widened as he starred at the once lively girl he use to hang out with. She too, looked very rough. Her clothes where messy, bags under her eyes, and it looked as though she hadn't eaten at all over the weekend. Adrien felt his stomach drop as he swayed slightly. He made her do that. He made her sad, so sad she wouldn't eat, go outside, or even leave her room. That hurt Adrien more than anything else ever could. Marinette locked eyes with him, both standing completely still. Though it was only for a split second, it felt like an entire year had gone by as Marinette's sapphire eyes pulled from his gaze as his heart stopped. Adrien stood completely still as he felt Marinette's shoulder brushed against his as she pulled Alya past him with her into the school.  Adrien spun around, catching a glimpse of Alya's furious face as the school door slammed shut.

The entire moment felt as if it was in slow motion, Adrien fell against the brick wall, putting his head in his hands as Nino started to say something but Adrien couldn't think straight. He felt his head going fuzzy as he bit his bottom lip, trying to hold back his tears.

'What have I done?'
